If is an LP, the regulator could be bad, easy to replace and not very expensive. Try a new regulator and hose first. If it is a NG grill, there still may be a regulator on it, not as easy to change out, but not very expensive. Try these things, if they don't work, let me know.

I have 3 charmglow heaters. I can get the pilots to light but when I try to turn the knobs to high or low they go out. Doesn't seem like gas is coming out at that point. Why?

there should be a thermocouple protruding into your pilot flame. This device, when hot, produces an electrical voltage that tells the gas valve that it is safe to turn on the gas. The thermocouple can be bad or frequently the small tube or wire connection from the thermocouple to the gas valve gets corroded and doesn't make connection. Try cleaning this connection first. It may be just screw terminal connections or a hexnut. loosen the screws or hexnut and clean ... reconnect and test. If it does not, pick up and install a new thermocouple.

I have frost on the line coming from my gas tank to the burner on my Charmglow grill. Do I need to replace the flow valve. If so, what part number do I order and from where? Thanks, John

You need to replace the grills Hose/Regulator Assembly. You can purchase one at any home center or hardware store that sells gas grills and accessories. They run about $30.00. Take your old one with you for comparison purposes.

To avoid this happening in the future. Whenever, you turn the tank valve OFF and it comes time to turn it back ON, turn it ON VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow). Doing it that way, won't lockup or blow the gas line regulator. It wasn't your fault, John (unless you didn't read the Owner's Manual). The new OPD tank valves, will shoot to high a pressure sometimes and either lockup the regulator or cause a small leak, like it did with yours. That's where the frost was coming from.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know and Happy Grilling!!

Check light on,problem shows on p 0401

P0401-Insufficient flow in the exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR-valve). Check your gas cap for cracked seal, check EGR valve (make sure all vacuum hoses aren't leaking), check also VSV (vacuum switching valve) for proper operation. Its best to get an owner's manual or an experienced mechanic to diagnose!!hopefully this helpd

Charmglow model cgl300tq. cannot seem to get enough gas to make ignition! i keep pilot inlet tube clean. how can i tell if it is the regulator. it is definitely a gas flow problem!

You will need a manometer to determine your gas pressure, the amount required is posted on your appliance. Take both a static and dynamic reading on the inlet side of the gas valve. If it is not high enough consult a plumber. If it is take a reading on the manifold side. If the gas pressure is too low again consult a plumber. If it is within spec check orifaces and burner tubes if any for debris and spiders.

1. flame is the same, wether set at high or low. 2. turn on 3 burners and they almost go out. seems like there isn't enough gas flow to run even 3 of 5 burners

Make sure your burners are clean and not blocked with lava rocks or anything. If that's all good, make sure that you are turning the tank off before you light it. This is really important, b/c if you light it with the tank already open, there is a safety device on most tanks that won't let the gas flow. After you try relighting after having the tank turned off for 30 seconds, make certain the valve on your tank is working. Turn the tank completely off. Open the hood and make sure you don't smell and gas. Without turning the gas on at the tank, turn the knob to light, and see if you get any flame. If all of that checks out, It is probably the gas regulator. They are relatively cheap and easy to replace.

Low flame

try opening the tank really slowly. if the tank has an OPD (overfill protection devise) and you open it too quickly it will restrict the gas flow to the burners. hope this helps.
