Hello,

sometimes the ice maker seem to go out of control and produce little ice or no ice at all.

To inspect the refrigerator,

  1. Inspect the plastic or copper water tube that runs from the fridge to a water supply line usually located under the sink. The water tube must be securely connected. If not, hook the tube to the water line and tighten with your fingers. Make sure that the water supply shut-off valve is turned on; turn fully to the left.
  2. Inspect the water tube for any kinks or holes. Straighten the tube to remove kinks. If you find holes, turn off the water valve and remove the water tube. Replace the tube.
  3. Turn on the ice maker by pushing the wire shut-off arm to "on" or pushing the "on" switch, depending on model.
  4. Wait 24 to 72 hours for a newly installed refrigerator to deliver ice.
  5. Open the freezer door and inspect the trap door that ice is released through. Dislodge any jammed ice with a plastic utensil.

What need to be done is to reset the ice maker and it will be in good condition again.

To reset the refrigerator, follow the steps below;
  1. Locate the shut-off switch on the front of the GE refrigerator ice maker and turn the switch off, leaving it off for at least 30 seconds.
  2. Turn the switch back on and locate the feeler arm on the ice maker. The feeler arm is a thick wire that looks like a coat hanger and shuts off the ice maker when it comes in contact with the ice
  3. Push the feeler arm up three times quickly to reset the ice maker.
  4. Verify that the ice maker completes a cycle of running water into the ice-making mechanism and dumping the ice into the bin.
Hope this solution will be helpful.

Take care

How do I get the ice maker to produce for the first time

Is the arm that gets pushed up by the ice cubes (in order to stop making ice when it is full) in the down position? it is able to be pushed up and locked so that the icemaker doesn't make at ice and may need to be pushed down.

The ice maker is slow and will not replinish very fast. It may take all week to get full

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.
Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees
The ref. temp should be about 33-35
The Freezer temp should be 0 to 10 Any thing below these temps is overkill and a waste of elect
The higher the number you turn it up to is the coldest
The icemaker is 110v
See if water is in icemaker.
Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects.
If it ejects thenyou need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
If its leaking or no water at icemaker or door either one, then the valve at the rear bottom of ref needs replacing
First I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also if it is getting drinking water to the door but not to the icemaker (or vice versa) Then you need to replace
the water valve at the bottom rear of the fridge. It is a double valve and one side is not working
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath

Our kitchen and pantry were flooded because the icemaker wouldn't shut off. My husband had to unplug the refrigerator to stop the water from pouring out

That is a rare happening but the solution is inside the ice maker itself. Click Here=>MSD2732GR Ice Maker Parts Break Down Part 13 is the Click Here=> 627985 Ice Maker Thermostat and sometimes it is just less expensive to replace the complete Ice Maker=> Ice Maker
Assembly

Simply unplug the ice maker from inside the freezer section rear wall until you can replace the part or ice maker. If you have more questions feel free to ask here or my through my web sites. Thanks, Sea Breezesea_breeze_15.jpg

Ice maker leaking

Are you sure it's the ice maker that's leaking? We have this model & ours accumulates a HUGE iceberg in the bottom of the freezer, but the water seems to be coming out of the back, at the bottom of the back panel, where the vents are.

Ice maker sprays water...

sounds like the inlet part on the ice maker is froze over or not lined up in the opening of it right or a possibilty that the ice maker is leaking out the water if that is the case the ice maker needs replaced

guest make sure your wire arm on icemaker is down same dandcs also for orig poster they have duel water valves one goes to door water one goes to icemaker. icemaker works a general rule more than door water so wears out faster but you have to replace both as they are a unit .other things that will stop ice production are frozen ice fill tube ,bad motor module in icemaker .check that first .if that don't solve it then reply to me and we will get deeper
