Hi There,

Forget that it only runs this way or that way, if the gas is boiling your life is at risk. The vapors can explode from the slightest spark, while you have it tucked under your arm.

DO NOT RUN IT!!!

THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS OCCURRENCE!!!

I'm guessing it was either recently worked on or recently acquired. The only thing that could cause the gas to boil is a missing heat shield.

This needs to be addressed before anything else.

I cannot provide anything more with what you have submitted. You have been very lucky. I suggest bringing it to a shop that specializes in small engine repair. They may have one.

Briggs & Stratton 44N877-0005G1. Lawn tractor runs 10 to 30 minutes then engine starts cycling and dies. Takes 1/2 to 3 hours to re-start

be sure the air vents are clean and not clogged up with dirt, oil or grass. sometimes when engines are dirty they will tend to over heat and cause the fuel to boil. be sure the fuel lines are away from the engine. might change the spark plug. they tend to break down at high temperatures. last you may change the coil.

How do I check why my 99 gmc jimmy when its hot out it cuts out and I have to give it more gas to keep it running but when its cold out no problems what is my problem

Choke is stuck half way or full on...on.. check check check cutting in or if the truck is over heating... and in a few cases the gas line is passing too close to the manifold and the fuel is actually boiling into an airlock.

1987 Dodge Dakota 3.9 engine, Holley 2 barrel. Having running issues. Bought the truck cheap cause it wouldn't run. Cleaned the carburetor and installed a rebuild kit. Starts right up and idles great....

Yes, the floats may be causing the fuel level in the carb. to be too high. The black plugs indicate running too rich. Clean the plugs and check the fuel level.

Mower will run then starts running bad turn the choke off and it stalls stalls after i choke it also blows gas out of the top of the carburator how do i adjust the vaalvesType your problem for a solut

Using the choke as you did, mentioned in your problem, you have flooded the carburetor. DO NOT USE THE CHOKE,ONCE THE TRACTOR IS RUNNING. Choke is used to start the motor only. When you run with the choke on,the motor gets to much gas and the plug(s) get fowled up and gas comes out of the carburetor. Remember the motor is hot, when gas comes out of the carburetor, the amount of over flow (flooding),could cause a FIRE. Lay off the choke, clean the spark plug(s),they will most likely be fowled up. The filter will be soaked with gas, remove the filter, soak up the gas, using a handy wipe, let filter dry out. Once dry replace filter. You should be good to go. Remember,do not over choke, use when starting a cold motor, usually when motor is hot from running, you may not have to use the choke at all. Hope this helps. Sincerely,Brad Locke

2004 eiger 400 will run about 15 minutes then sputter and shut off. let it set for a few minutes and cranks and runs fine but does the same thing all over again, i installed new gas, new carb, new fo

Check the air cleaner and any ductwork for blockage. (Mouse nest?)

Inspect the fuel system. If the fuel line is out of place and too close to the exhaust or cylinder head, the fuel may be boiling inside the line so you don't get proper flow to the carburetor (this is one possible cause of vapor lock).

Is the choke actuator part of the new carburetor? Verify that the choke is opening when the engine warms up. If it is an automatic choke, inspect the vacuum line and thermostat controlling it. Try removing the vacuum line from the choke actuator and plugging it when the engine is warmed up, then see if the engine keeps running. If it does, the actuator diaphragm leaks when the choke is open.

Check the exhaust pipe for blockage.

If the engine has an EGR system or PCV valve, check those for proper operation. If carbon deposits cause abnormal operation of the EGR valve, the engine will kill when the valve opens too much (about the time the engine is warmed up).

If everything else is good, check the exhaust manifold for blockage by carbon deposits.

Sounds like an old Ford of mine. Had to put and insulator between the Carb an maniford because carb boiled gas out of the float chamber. Could just be faulty choke at operating temperature.

My 1994 xr6004 has good compression and has had a new top end, it runs awesome and kicks over fairly easy when cold and runs/drives great, but as soon as it warms up and you shut it off or it stalls out,...

The fuel in the carburetor float chambers is boiling while it sits, and flooding the engine. If it has a fuel petcock turn that off, and let the bike stop through fuel starvation. Then there will be no fuel in there to boil.

Trimmer will only run in choke position

You have a few possibilities. Make sure you have good fresh gas in the tank. You're not getting enough gas, so choking helps get more gas than air, making it run better. Could be the carb diaphram (not very expensive if you replace yourself), when they get old they don't perform like they should. Could be the filter in the gas tank is bad, plugged. Also might be just an easy adjustment on the carb Low, and High speed screws. The choke has three positions, full choke, partial choke, and no choke, which means run position.

I can't restart my Ryobi cutter once it's been running.

This is because Ryobi uses a loose fit on their piston and cylinder. As the cylinder heats up it grows in size causing the compression to drop.
when the cylinder cools the cylinder shrinks and you regain your compression.

Another possibility is that you are boiling yoour gas causing a vapor lock. This also goes away once the unit cools.
