Sounds like the transmitter and receiver have failed. You need to replace the unit. Assuming this is a WRT54G series router, those parts are integrated into the board and difficult to replace. Are you getting any kind of connection to it while your hard wired in?

You said that the power light is blinking. The chances are your router is not workikng more.
Try to reset the router. P{ress the reset button on the router.
Press it and hold it down for 30 seconds.
Release the button and wait for 1 minute. See if the powerlight becomes solid. If the power light is still bliking then reset the router again.
Once the power light is solid on the router then try to reconfigure the router from the beginning.

I am trying to add a new PC to my home network, but I need to find my original netwok key and password from my Linksys G router but it's been so long. How can I find out from my existing system?

you can use a computer that is already connected to your network and open your browser to 192.168.1.1
this will prompt a login
assuming you have not change the default password it is admin and the user name is blank.
click on the wireless button and wireless security will show your wireless network password/passphase.

My d-link router name no longer appears in my wireless networks list - I can not find it to connect to the internet wirelessly

Hi, this seems to be either an issue with your router's hardware or local computer wireless adapter hardware. In order to determine which one is it do the following:

1. Go and check the LEDs on your wireless router to see if there are any blinking or switched off as stated in the official manual documentation for DLink products (can be found here or here more specific).
LEDS are as follows (left to right - per official user manual/doc):
- Power LED = A solid light indicates a proper connection to the power supply. cdekatrr_0.png
- Internet LED = A solid light indicates a proper connection to the Internet port. This LED blinks during data transmission. cdekatrr_1.png
- WLAN LED = A solid light indicates that the wireless segment is ready. The LED blinks during wireless data transmission. cdekatrr_2.png
- Local Network LEDs = A solid light indicates a connection to an Ethernet-enabled computer on ports 1-4. This LED blinks during data transmission. cdekatrr_3.png

2. Check the laptop's or desktop wireless adapter if it is disabled or enabled and if is disabled enable it by going to your computer's Control Panel (either winxp or vista/win7) and go to network connections (in vista/win7 put the control panel in detailed view to see more options) and then right click on your wireless connection and click enable.

3. In a case that also the wireless adapter is enabled but you still cannot see any access points/wireless networks please go to your current wireless connection and right click go "Diagnose", this feature is mainly available in windows 7 or Vista. For windows XP, go to the command prompt by going to Start->Run->type in the box "cmd" without the quotes->Then type in the following set of commands.
ipconfig /release ---> This will refresh your wireless card IP settings/configuration to 0.
and after that command finishes, type in:
ipconfig /renew --> This will get new settings if the wireless card has problems finding an address from your router.

You can always reset your router (unplug from power supply, wait 2minutes then plug it back in)
or:
Reset the wireless adapter (right click from on the wireless adapter shown in the network connections, disable and then re-enable it) or computer.

Thanks please let me know if you need anything else.

How many lights should be on my westell model327w?

b2f0922.jpg
The Westell has several lights on the front that have various meanings

Power = When lit, this light indicates there's power to the router. It should be solid green.

Ethernet = When lit, this light indicates that the modem is communicating with your computer. This will be on only if you're using the Ethernet cable to connect the modem to your computer

Wireless = When lit, this light indicates that the wireless function of the Actiontec is working. This will only be lit if you're using the wireless function.

DSL = When lit, this light indicates the modem is speaking to the central office (phone company). When working, the light should be solid green.

Internet = When blinking, this light indicates that you're receiving information i.e., you're able to browse from site to site. This light will be blinking as you're receiving information.

No power only plug light and battery light is on

Hello,

The lights are indicators of which operation does your laptop operates.
1. Power indicator is lighten to green meaning you are in the mode of charging your power.and if the power indicator turns to orange meaning you are now using battery power or the charging is finished.
2. Reading indicator is blinking meaning your laptop is currently processing but if the Reading indicator is not blinking and made a static light then your system is in hang up or not reading the processes.
3. Wireless indicator is blinking or lighten then you are in the a wireless mode connection. Also the bluetooth and Infrared connectivity.
So please check which light indicator is lighten when you on your laptop.

Thanks

Wireless network is locked asus eee pc 4gsurf. On Wireless Networks - Visible Access points (window) at the left hand side of Netwok name a picture of a locked lock appears. How can I unlock the lock.

When you see those locks it means the wireless connection is a secured connection. You must have the access code to connect to this network. If you see a network without the lock, you can access it without a code. Good luck.

Router will not reconize 3rd computer

It is possible that the router has a wireless security enabled into it. The laptop needs the security key for it to connect to the wireless network. You can check the security enabled in your router from your router's User Interface page.

To access your router's page; launch IE from a computer that is working through the router. Then on the address field, type 192.168.1.1. It will open a window asking for a username and password. The default password to get into the router's page is admin.

Then, once you're in the router's User Interface, the main page that will open is the SETUP, beside it is WIRELESS tab. Click on it, then verify the wireless network name or SSID. Whatever name configured on it, is the name the laptop should connect to.

Then, there is a subtab under the main tab WIRELESS. The sub-tab is called, Wireless Security. Click on Wireless Security tab and then look for the netwok key enabled. Take note of the key which your laptop will be neeeding.

Hope this helps!
