Hi your switch is either dirty or worn out. if you can get to it and use compressed air to dust it's insides, it may work again, other wise you will have to replace it. J.

Sounds like one of the internal rocker springs or retainers are broken off. Replace the switch.

Was vaccuming and vaccum quit. Tried unplugging and turning back on. Getting absolutely no power. unscrewed screw under handle and tried to make sure connection was being made. Don't really know what to...

ok..If you have a multimeter you can check plug fuse then switch and motor, if you put leads across the plug you will get some reading if its working.could be thermal cut out on the motor.

Bissell Pro 2X. The brushes spin as soon as I turn it on but only spins for an instant then it quits spinning. The vacuum stays running. the handle is down.

it might be the drive belt slipping if the unit is off then the belt is locked onto the belt and then when the unit is switched on the belt slips and if its loose it doesnt hold the belt to the motor shaft

Beaters stop when vaccuming rug...didn't when new

I believe you need to change the belt that drives the brushes. When it gets stretched out, it will just spin on the axle of the motor or spin on the brush and smoke.

Won't turn on

That's because there is a safety switch underneath the bag when you go to shut the top hatch after putting the new bag in. The cardboard of the bag fits in a little cutout. You see that little silver thing? That's the switch. If you push down on it with a pencil, and the machine kicks on, then that was the problem. If it's not lined up just right, or if it's too thick, the switch won't go down all the way. Make it :-)

Switch is not working

had same kind of problem. had to have switch replaced.
if you or someone you know can repair it you can order part online and fix it and save or take it to a vacuum repair center.
google replacement parts for your model there are several.
you can try sears parts direct they carry the switch.

Release button

There is no button. You are supposed to place your foot on the area above the rolling brush and hold the base down while pulling the handle back.
There is a small metal clip under the vacuum that you should bend out a bit to make it easier to release. Unplug and flip the vacuum over. It is right in the middle between the back wheels. Use a pair of pliers. Don't bend it too far or it won't stay up when you want it to!

Hope this helps!
