You will need to take the tire off of the side that the light is burned out on. Then remove plastic fender well insert. This will give you the enough room to change out any burned out light in the headlamp assembly.
Take the top 2 screws out of the headlight lens assembly and if you take the 6 top screws out of the upper grill this is cake work. Even the manuals didn\'t help so don\'t get mad if I am posting mad. Ii figured it out by myself AND I have big hands. 08 Chevy Avalanche

On the inside of the car next to the light switch there is your dome button. GM made it to where you could turn off the daytime running lights by pushing it three times in and out. Turn the vehicle on then do this. Your daytime running lights should work after this.

Open the hood, and in the top right and left corners of the primary headlamps you'll see two pins (L shaped) swing them out (towards the front of the truck) and lift out. This allows you to remove the upper headlamp assembly. You can then remove the lower assembly by pushing outwards on the plastic clip that is hooked into a metal clip. Once it's out you just turn the bulb to remove it.
It's much easier if you unhook the leads to the upper assembly's bulbes so you can set the whole thing aside.
