Question about D-Link DCS-5300 Network Camera

1 Answer

Http 400 I have the same problem described but have never had Silverlight. IE6 works fine, not IE7. I have just installed IE8 beta and the DCS-6250 now works on an XP computer. However, a Vista computer still cannot connect. I have tried virtually everything I know without success. D-Link tech support has not been helpful. It says that the camera works fine on it IE7/Vista systems. Since Vista won't run IE6, I'm just out of luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Bill Jordan

Thanks for the assistance. I don't have an entry for Silverlight at that location. There are some Silverlight entries in the installer section.

Silverlight wasn't installed on the computer. It didn't appear in the control panel delete programs window or the Windows Installer Cleanup. I didn't check the registry entry you suggest (which I think should be HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Internet Settings\Accepted Documents).

I have reattained the picture and lost it and reattained it again using the following procedure:

From a fresh boot, install Silverlight.

    Uninstall Silverlight.

This has brought the picture back. I lost it again for some unknown reason, so I went through the process again, and the picture returned. Perhaps Microsoft is doing an automatic update that sticks Silverlight someplace. Still, I don't use automatic update, so I don't know.

This procedure might help others. If the problem returns, I will certainly address the registry. Again, thanks very much for your response and help.

It is a silverlight issue.

Go to regedit
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Accepted Documents and delete the silverlight entry

Cannot get video over the internet with IE7

Normal 0 Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:

After downloading and installing Skype set it up as follows:

  1. Go to TOOLS, then OPTIONS, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if installed properly will come up and show a picture.
  4. Then on the bottom of the page click on Save.

The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now see and talk to you.

B. Yahoo Setup:

After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.

When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
Hope this helps. Bud

Can't connect to 5300w with IE 6.0

hmmm..sounds like a settings issue on IE...can Firefox see the camera, due to no active X control? That sounds like an application issue, not a device issue.

Dcs 5300 not acessin ie 7 get s http 400 error

Actually, the problem itself is not actually Silverlight, it is simply that the D-Link cameras appear to have a buffer overflow or some sort of problem with a long header. Specifically when the HTTP Header "Accept" gets too long, the device errors out and returns a 400 error. It just seems to be that Silverlight extends this header to a point where you can't use it. Even without Silverlight you could see this response.

If you want to see/modify your HTTP Header "Accept" items, simply go to the following in the registry:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Accepted Documents

I simply removed all of my office apps cause I really don't care to view them in my browser anyhow.

Good luck!
