Question about D-Link DCS-5300 Network Camera

1 Answer

Http 400 I have the same problem described but have never had Silverlight. IE6 works fine, not IE7. I have just installed IE8 beta and the DCS-6250 now works on an XP computer. However, a Vista computer still cannot connect. I have tried virtually everything I know without success. D-Link tech support has not been helpful. It says that the camera works fine on it IE7/Vista systems. Since Vista won't run IE6, I'm just out of luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Bill Jordan wfjordan@earthlink.net

Thanks for the assistance. I don't have an entry for Silverlight at that location. There are some Silverlight entries in the installer section.

Silverlight wasn't installed on the computer. It didn't appear in the control panel delete programs window or the Windows Installer Cleanup. I didn't check the registry entry you suggest (which I think should be HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Internet Settings\Accepted Documents).

I have reattained the picture and lost it and reattained it again using the following procedure:

From a fresh boot, install Silverlight.

    Reboot.

    Uninstall Silverlight.

    Reboot.

This has brought the picture back. I lost it again for some unknown reason, so I went through the process again, and the picture returned. Perhaps Microsoft is doing an automatic update that sticks Silverlight someplace. Still, I don't use automatic update, so I don't know.

This procedure might help others. If the problem returns, I will certainly address the registry. Again, thanks very much for your response and help.

It is a silverlight issue.

Go to regedit
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Accepted Documents and delete the silverlight entry

I need to know what version of Internet Explorer you have and when the problem fist started. IE6 does not update any longer. IE7 or IE8 would be fine. Microsoft now only supports IE7 and IE8. If you have neither then you should begin with IE7 download and don't worry soon Microsoft will have you up to IE8 and updating. If updates are turn on in IE6 nothing happens. Depending on your computer, DSL or Cable is the best way to get this working right. This may not be the issue either. You may have let Google Chrome be your default browser.I need to know your operating system first to help you better. Sea Breeze

Exactly same problem

Because of security fixes it is unwise to revert back to IE6. Simply install IE8 and don't use it. Try Firefox, Safari, or Opera for your web browser. Microsoft products are ALL designed to be updated regularly. Probably the fastest way to fix the error is simply wipe your hard drive and reinstall the operating system. I think I would try repairing your IE6 installation if you have not tried that already. Control panel, add/remove programs area will have the option.

Print out problem in outlook express 6

Try Re-Installing Internet Explorer in Add or Remove Programs, i.e if you have IE7 or IE8 then you Remove it from list, re-boot and re-install IE7 or IE8 BUT if you are using IE6 then you can either Update it to IE7 or IE8.

Alernatively while in Add or Remove Programs you'll see 4 options in the Left hand side pane, choose Add/Remove Windows Components and then Uncheck Internet Explore and Outlook Express, then click Next etc, re-boot and again do the same except this time Check OE and IE.

WARNING make sure you have saved/backed up your emails b4 going on with this last method.

Best bet is to Un-Install/Remove or Update IE6? if not already done so, this is all I can suggest and if those options don't fix it then run a Anti-Malware program it picks up stuff the Anti-Virus programs can't.

Good Luck.

IE 7

Yes you can upgrade your Internet Explorer to IE7 (assuming you have IE6 right now)

You can download and install IE7 from Windows updates or go to the Windows Support Site to download it at http://support.microsoft.com

Only upgrade to IE7. Do not download and install IE8 Beta. It is still in testing. IE7 will not cause any problem with your HP Pavilion.

IE 8 Installation Problems

I had the same problem. I had IE7 and installed IE8. IE8 caused a lot of problems, so I used system restore. I was back to IE7 but it was not functioning properly. I had to downgrade to IE6 and then reinstall IE7. Its all back to normal. What a pain

Dcs 5300 not acessin ie 7 get s http 400 error

Actually, the problem itself is not actually Silverlight, it is simply that the D-Link cameras appear to have a buffer overflow or some sort of problem with a long header. Specifically when the HTTP Header "Accept" gets too long, the device errors out and returns a 400 error. It just seems to be that Silverlight extends this header to a point where you can't use it. Even without Silverlight you could see this response.

If you want to see/modify your HTTP Header "Accept" items, simply go to the following in the registry:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Accepted Documents

I simply removed all of my office apps cause I really don't care to view them in my browser anyhow.

Good luck!
