Question about Peg Perego 12 Volt Rechargeable Battery

1 Answer

Can you overcharge your battery?

I have a John Deer and it was working perfectly fine, but the battery died and I charged it but forgot to unplug for uhm about a week. When I went to get it out again I realized I had left it plugged in. I then pushed the petal and it took off like it was fully charged. But later when my son got on it it was dead. I plugged it in and tried to charge it again but the light is staying red/orange now???

Hi,

Leaving the battery plug on uhm for a long time has destroy the cell in the battery. The battery should not be charge for more than 48 hours.

The battery is damage and should be replace with a new one.

Thanks for contacting Fixya.

check battery volts with engine off if battery volts on 12v battery ok... check battery running over 12v then battery is charging, stays on 12v battery is not charging ... replace alt. or gen which ever one you have... battery volts drops as running battery needs to be charged or replaced.

My helicopter (SO32 Gyro) having previously worked perfectly now will only hover. I have tried recharging it but it makes no difference. I wonder if I have overcharged the battery and if it is possible to...

Batteries are available online (amazon and many others) and change easily with only small screwdriver. Overcharging is not the issue. Nearly impossible with PCB (overcharge prevention circuit) hard wired into battery AND in charger. Problem is likely UNDERcharging, overDIScharging, or improper battery care. Battery MUST be allowed to cool 10 minutes after flying. Charge until light on charger doesn't get any brighter when helicopter is unplugged... light comes on (dim at first) well before full charge. 10 minute cool-down after charge also a MUST. And, most important, when flying, as soon as you are unable to maintain altitude, land helicopter and power it off. Li/Po batteries should never be fully drained. Even one full discharge can cripple or ruin entirely your helicopter's battery.

hope this helps.. let me know,

Help for my childs John Deer Gator

first of all check for at least 12 volts from the battery and the charger, you can test this using a multimeter, if the battery doesn't show any volts, lift up one side of the blue plastic housing on the top and verify that both the positive and negative wires are plugged in
