Thanks for using FixYa. To start with unplug the unit and take the back off then check the power supply board for any bulged/swollen components. Also check the controller board which is the board located next to the power supply unit. The orange light indicates that the power is coming to the unit however, as its not working so the issue is more likely the power board. Hope you know that a plasma TV is a very hard working device. It is working harder than any TV that has been built before, and as a result it produces a lot of heat. 75% of technical problems in plasma TV's are caused by overheating problems. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise and/or know how to solder/re-solder components as these units contain high voltages even when switched off. Vizio M420NV Wont turn on

I have a suggestion if you have and are using a box of some kind with this set, remove set and box from power for awhile and then power both back, sometimes a box can trigger this type of event, hope it helps and it cannot hurt to try.

The main board is usually at fault in a vizio when the logo doesnt turn white which indicates the main board isnt processing the power on command. You can get free technical assistance to troubleshoot that model by contacting the guys at www.tvrepairworld.com

That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..

Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..

1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

Vizio M470NV just purchased, while watching TV it turns off with the Vizio light blinking between orange and white. Can not turn back on !! I have to just wait for about a minute then tv turns back on by...

I have the same issue on my Vizio M470NV. I called Vizio and they told me it is a self diagnostic test that is shutting down the TV automatically to protect it. They said they are working on fixing the issue with a firmware update that will be pushed out automatically if you are connected to the internet. No ETA given on when that would happen. I called them on the 3/14/11 and my TV is still shutting down randomly.

The flickering is most likely due to a faulty fluorescent backlight. Once the bulb heats up the flickering usually goes away. Some bulbs are easier to replace than others so I would contact your local TV repair shop.

Orange light will not stay on when the tv is off.

replace the power cord, do not use tv till you replace the power cord ok, you will eventually short circuit the tv or even worse blow the internal components
