If it is the power cord, it should be of the universal kind. If it is the RCA cables, youu will have to strip back the wires and solder the ends together matching the wire colors. Tape up with insulation tape and "bob's your uncle"

Table saw stopped running. Will run when I tilt it forward

The fact that it runs in one position but not in another tells me that you have an electrical problem. Specifically, it suggests that you have an intermittently broken circuit that opens and closes as the position of a wire or relay is moved by gravity. However, it could also mean you have a short if a bare hot wire touches bare metal as your changing the position of the saw. If that's the case, then you'd probably see and hear some electrical arcing--one heck of a spark--when the motor stops running.

So let's assume it's an open. If you know how to use an ohmmeter, you can easily find the break and then replace the damaged part. If not, you could first begin by unplugging the power cord, removing the blade, plugging the power cord back into the wall socket, and hitting the power switch with the saw in the level (not working) position. Then start manipulating the power cord from the wall socket to the on-off switch--move it back and forth and up and down to see if one of the wires in it is broken but the broken ends can be put back into contact by these movements. If the motor starts to turn during these manipulations, replace or reattach the power cord. If nothing happens, unplug it and examine the leads from the switch to the motor to see if they're firmly attached at both ends. If one of the leads is loose, reattach it. If they look good, plug it back in and manipulate these leads one at a time like you did the power cord. It would be a good idea to be wearing some heavy insulated gloves during this procedure. If the motor starts to run, replace the damaged lead. If nothing happens, then temporarily wire around the on-off switch to see if it's damaged. If the motor runs when you do this, replace the switch.

Again, it would be far better to try to find the location of the open circuit using an ohmmeter with the power cord unplugged. If you don't have an ohmmeter, consider buying one. They're not expensive and not difficult to learn to use.

Good luck.

Cut the electrical cord on craftsman electric hedge trimmer. Does not run. Is there a reset ?

NO, no reset. The only thing causing it to NOT RUN is an OPEN circuit condition caused by the cut wire, OR an IMPROPERLY made splice, OR improper replacement of the cord!!!!!

Get somebody that KNOWS what s/he is doing to replace the damaged cord.

Need to replace the cord

If you feel the need to not part with your beloved fan, but instead fix it the solution is simply.

First make sure the cord is unplugged from the wall, electric shocks are painful, trust me.
Then get a pair of wire strippers, NOT wire cutters. If you don't have the right tools, you can strip the wires with a kitchen knife, but this is not recommended as you risk harming yourself.

If the cord is damaged along it's length, you will need to cut out the section that is damaged. Cut the wires wherever you like, cutting to either side of the damaged section.

Bare about 2 to 3 inches (5 to 7 cm) of wire on the two parts of the cord that are undamaged.

Take the positive wires from the fan side and the positive wires from the wall end and wind them together, like you are closing a twist tie.

Wrap thoroughly with black electrical tape. No wire should be visible and it must be electrical tape, as it will not catch fire.

Repeat with the other wires.

If the wires need to be replaced starting at the fan terminal, open the fan casing (having already unplugged it from the wall) and remove the wires from where they are attahed to the fan casing. Please note which is the + and - end. Cut out the damaged section of cord, bare 2 to 3 inches of cord.
wrap the end of the cord around the terminal in the fan.
and do the same with the negative end.
They should be firmly wrapped, so they will not slip off.
You shouldn't need to pthem in place, but you may if it becomes necessary.

My Pro Finish 714 cord was accidentally cut. Is it worth replacing the cord? Where do you get a new cord and can I replace it myself?

Thank you for using FixYa. Is the cord cut near the iron end or the outlet end? could the cord be shortened? A new cord can be purchased at most reasonable hardware stores and with a little care and attention can be replaced yourself.

Hope this has been of some help.

I burned through the electric cord on my George Foreman Grilling machine. How do I replace the damaged electric cord?

take the grill apart and remove the old wires ( label and mark colors ),, go to your local hardware store and buy a pre made plug and wire set and install to the grill.
now depending on where the cord got burned -- you can just shorten the cord and use the existing cord -- ( it will just be a bit shorter ).
you can also use a extension cord and just cut the one end off of it and wire that to the grill.
or you can just cut the burned through part off and use **** connectors to put it back together.

The lead on our machine is becoming frayed - is it possible to replace the lead and if so, how is it achieved? John Tuffley

If you are refering to the Electrical Power Cord? Yes, this can be easily replaced or repaired.
Depending upon where the cord is damaged, you can either cut it a little shorter and install a replacement electrical plug end (available at any electrical parts store (Lowes, Home Depot, Radio Shack, etc) for about $2.50.
Or if the cord is damaged near the vacuum, you can purchase another cord or even make up one yourself how ever long you want it within reason.

Power Plug damaged.

DO NOT USE THE MIXER UNTIL YOU MAKE PROPER REPAIRS!

You can buy a replacement plug at a home center to replace the damaged one with.
Make certain if the old plug is polarized (one blade slightly longer or wider, depending on how you look at it, than the other), that the replacement is of the same type.

If polarized, it will be important to connect the wires properly once you have cut the old plug off.
If the old cord has a black and a white conductor, the black goes to the narrow blade, the white goes to the wider blade.
If not colored, then not the cord will be ribbed. The ribs go to the wider blade, the smooth goes to the narrow blade. Be sure you get this correct for best electrical and shock protection.
