Question about HP OfficeJet 4315 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I continue to get "Cartridge Error" messages. I have cleaned the contacts where the cartridge seats in the device, and I have used a number of different cartridges in an effort to rule out bad cartridges as the problem. Is there anything else I can do? If the color cartridge is the problem, how can I make that determination without buying another color cartridge?

Hi Rtpinina,

Thanks for using Fixya.

As you have stated that you have cleaned the contacts f the printer and cartridges, therefore, Perform a hard reset on the printer

  • Verify that the unit is turned on.

  • Remove the power cable from the back of the printer.

  • Wait 30 seconds.

  • Press and hold the POWER button on the front panel.

  • Plug the power cord in to the back of the printer.

  • Print a test page. If the problem persists, replace the cartridge.

Also check from this Link that the ink cartridges being used by you are compatible with Officejet 4315 or not.

Check if you have removed the protective tape from the cartridge or not.

If the problem is still there, then print cartridge or sensor is defective.

Thanks for using Fixya.
Good luck and have a nice day.

When I hold the power button down and plug the power cord back in, the unit does not turn on. I am forced to release the power button, then press it again to power up the unit. When I do this, I immediatley receive a Cartidge Error message. Should I be keeping the power button depressed while pluggin in the power cord, or should I release it after 30 seconds then plu in power cord.

You are supposed to plug the power cord while pressing the power button......

  • rtpinina Jul 11, 2010

Still not correcting the problem. Any other options? How about uninstall/re-install the software?

  • Ranglo
    Ranglo Jul 11, 2010

    You can try this also...but i don't think it's a software problem.

The problem is either with the cartridge or with the sensor.
