It's been plugged in to charge power is on and it's just flashing the SANYO start up window, I don't think it's charging because the light on top of power button is not turning on red, It won't even start up, how can I fix this issue?

You MUST use the sanyo charger with this unit. Other usb chargers, yes, even your computer, WILL NOT WORK if the battery is very low. If you have left the power button ON and just turn it off with the upper "menu" button, your battery will last about 12 hours without it being charged. Also, as I sure you are aware, the off/on must be in the on position for it to charge. Hope this helps ya .... BTW: I think the $79.00 for the Update is way out of range for this unit. $15 - 22.00 is more of a reasonable price. I got mine at RShack for $99. NEW
1st: make sure your NUVI is OFF then plug in the usb cable from the computer to the NUVI, after you hear your computer ding from new device connected, and the NUVI displays the computer icon move to step 2
step 2: if you have xp go to START and MY COMPUTER. with vista its START then COMPUTER button on the right side
step 3: with MY COMPUTER window open hold the NUVI power switch to the ON position and RIGHT CLICK the NUVI device logo (blue triangle) and select EJECT .. ( DON;T HIT SAFiLY REMOVE)
step 4: when you see GARMIN display on the screen you can letgo of the power button on the NUVI ****** if you unplugtheusb
it will display message stating EXTERNAL POWER LOST SWITCHING TO
BATTERY POWER***** while it is plugged to the computer the battery
meter will disappear.

probably not charging, but plug it into a known good charger and let it charge
for a few hours then see if it starts.
press and hold the power button for upto 10 seconds or untill it starts.
If it starts normally and is
still plugged to the charger, go to the main menu/options/power and see if the
changing indicator is moving from side to side. If it is not
The following Magellan
800,860,2000,2200t,2500,(crossover) 3000,3050,3100,3140,4000,4040,4050,5310 and the
6000t are known to have faulty dc connectors...if your Magellan gps is not charging or will not power
up, its most likely the dc power port.
You may also have another issue
with the screen but you need to find out why its not charging 1st.
