You have 2 solutions to choose: either you use the open office suite that is a suite like Windows Office (but this one is free) that has the ability to export as pdf file your word document (details at this link)
or you can download and install the bullzip pdf printer (from this link). This one creates a new printer that you can use for printing as a file your job.
Both of the solutions are free. It's up on you to decide. I suggest (I use this in personal use) the 2nd solution.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. But, I'm sending the email with doc document to an Apple computer and both of these are also Windows programs. 1) Can most Apples read PC Word 2003? 2) Can I save somehow that is Apple friendly? 3) Does Apple use pdf also? Further problem the person I'm sending email and doc to a not computer savvy at all and only knows PC, but is staying with Mac people and I'd rather not have this person ask for help if possible. Thanks

The problem between the pc word documents and mac documents is the fonts. As you don't want to get in trouble the mac guy, I think the best solution is to send him a pdf file (created by the bulzip printer). Mac are compatible with the pdf files, no matter the program that created this file. Eventhually you can save your doc (using the bullzip) in image format (jpg) that is compatible with mac too. In none of these cases the mac guy will have the ability to edit the file and send it back to you.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply.

Thanks so much. One last question asked earlier: Is there any way an Apple computer can just read a PC Word doc without all of this? Thanks, jim

Yes there is but you have to try some combination with fonts. Just for a try make a doc writing something at each line (just one line) wth diferent font from line to line. Send it at mac and ask him/her which line is readable. In case of no luck try sending him/her not a doc file but an rtf one. It is more close to mac settings but you can't embed pictures in this type of file.
There is also the possibility to use the e-mail. Write down your text at the body of the mail and send it to your partner.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply.

Word 2003 2007 can't be viewed in word 2003

Hi
In order to view a Word 2007 document in Word 2003, you need to save the document in Word 2003 format while in Word 2007. If you dont have a copy of Word 2007, there are a number of ways of getting around the problem:
1. You can send it to a friend who has Word 2007 and ask them to convert it for you. 2. You can open a free Windows Live account at www.live.com and read it in there. 3. You can open a free Google docs account at www.google.com and convert it in there.
Office Live and Google docs are competitive online office applications that allow you to upload a document into the "cloud" and open it using an online word processor.
You HAVE to use Microsoft Explorer or Firefox (I think) to get into Windows Live - it does not permit Google Chrome and Safari (I think). It also does not permit you to save the file in 2003 version.
If you use Google Docs, all you have to do is upload it and then download it as a Word document. Google can only format files into Word 2003 format... but you mat lose a bit of the formatting.
Hope this helps Peter

How do I get PDF converter 5.2 to save files as WOrd .doc not docx?

It should be an option when you click save.
I have no knowledge of this product, but you could open in word and save as a doc file.
If you have word 2003 or earlier, you can download a free file to enable word 2003 to open docx files.
Sorry i could not be more helpful

My word 2003 doesnot allow to open downloads frommy word 2003

because microsoft has to keep chang the word file format to keep up with compression if one thing you can do is when using 2007 use the save as option and change the "save as type to" rich text format or just a word document

Free microsoft word download

For a free trial version you can try the link below:
http://microsoft-office-2007.en.softonic.com
However, if you are looking for free office productivity suite, open office would be the easier option, as it is totally free and works as good as or even better than MS office. Try the link below for the same.
http://www.openoffice.org
Open office does way better than the Home and student MS office version do. Though open office saves in .odt format instead of the .doc format, you can save in .doc format also. If you want to send a document in .doc format to someone who can read only .doc format, this helps. Like wise, you can save in MS office formats for spread sheet or presentations. Open office also give you the option of saving in PDF format, if you want to send a document which is not editable by the recipient. One also will get a great selection of fonts and clip art galleries.

Cannot open word 2007 files with word 2003

When you goto save a file in Office 2007 you need to change it to save in Office 98-03 format which is .doc , Office 2007 use's .docx by default.

To save it in the .doc format , simply click "Save As" , type in the filename in the box as you normally would....then underneath it is a drop down box, click on that and change it to the .doc

That will get you working!
