Hi,
This is a common problem with Sony and Dell notebooks. If you have the CD provided to you when you buy this machine, it would be great unless there would be NO other option ( as the safe mode is not working, restore option is out of question ).
Once you get the CD ( i am sorry but that is the only option ), you need to change the boot order in the bios to start from the CD first ( usually F2 for bios ).
Then when you boot it will prompt you to press
a key to boot from the cd
When the cd start you will get a
regional question which you enter your region for and then on the next
screen there is an option to "repair the computer"
Pick
the repair option and then system restore.
Select a restore date
before the crash and let it restore Windows for you.
Hopefully it would start after restart.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
Something is wrong with the account settings. Try to hit the key combination CTRL+ALT+DEL twice. This must bring you the log in window.

It didnt work. Still shows black screen with arrow. The thing is the laptop worked fine 2 days ago. This happened last night. It is frustrating me.
Could you please clarify me what is your operating system? Also have you ever install Symantec "PC Anywhere"at this computer?
Waiting clarification, don't hesitate to post.
Thanks and regards

To print from your macbook laptop you may have to install additional software onto your laptop from the installation CD. Insert the CD and wait for the 'Welcome' screen to appear. (Note if the 'Welcome' screen does not appear after a minute, then click the CD icon on the desktop). Double click 'Install' and follow the screen instructions.
Some additional notes that may apply to your machine(s):
If the printer is connected to a desktop computer through the rear USB port and you decide to connect a laptop computer to the printer through the Quick Connect laptop port, then the Quick Connect laptop port connection overrides the rear USB port connection. The active print jobs on the desktop computer may be cancelled. Pause or cancel active jobs on the desktop computer before switching between ports.
To summerise:
Pause or cancel active jobs on the desktop computer.
Connect a USB cable to the laptop computer and then to the Quick Connect laptop port on the front of the printer.
Warning-Potential Damage: Do not plug in or remove the USB cable from the Quick Connect laptop port while a memory device is being accessed by the printer.
If you have not yet installed the printer software on your laptop then install it now.
Hope this helps

When I turn on my laptop to sign onto my desktop, the acct sign in does not appear. All I get is a black screen with a white arrow that I can move around. Nothing else. I tried safe mode and same thing happens. Safe mode does not even appear.
