SOURCE: clarke hunter 60 2.5 hp compressor , trip switch keeps tripping

if you are talking about the brass valve with a small pin in the middle.it leaks untill the pressure get to 15-25 lbs then the pin pops out and stops leaking and the compressor pumps to pressure. this is normal that valve it a cold start valve that allows the compressor to start with out binding

SOURCE: Electric Air compressor just hums then trips breaker.

usally there is a releaf valve that takes the pressure off the compressor while it is resting. If that pressure is not off when the drive piston starts the motor will overload and blow the the breaker or reset. Check for a releaf valve for when the unit has reached full pressure

SOURCE: clarke shhh air compressor model 3/24 that is not

the rings on the compressor piston may be leaking, also check the one way read valves are in good condition, to verify a ring problem you can inject a light oil into the air intake like wd-40 wile trying to run up to pressure, if the pressure increases doing this they will need replacing and honing of the cylinder bore is required, if not the read valves are faulty and need to be replaced

Good Luck

I have an Airmaster Tiger 14/60, it will not charge beyond 4.5 bar, it can be completely empty but still have to be switched back on.

Trying to follow you.
A solenoid valve between the pump heads and the air storage tank. This is to enable the compressor to run or stop? The air supply from the tank stays open to air outlet(s).
A Clarke power supply switches the main power on or off.
The compressor initially runs to 3.4 bar, shuts off and will not restart until the Clark switch is opened and closed again. Correct?
The pressure control switch is valved off to the air tank or to the pump heads?
Is this a new setup, or is existing and worked before?

Normally, there are two ports before the check valve and two ports after the check valve, all on the check valve device screwed on to the air tank inlet.
Before the check valve, one tube goes to the pumps and the other to the pressure switch relief valve. The pressure switch will activate the relief valve when the preset tank pressure is satisfied, this drains and reliefs the pumps pressure making them ready to restart under no pressure. There should be no solenoid valves here.
After the check valve, ported is a tube to the pressure switch, the switch operates on this pressure, tank pressure, the tank is also on this port side, after the check valve.
The pressure switch has a cover, under the cover is a set of electric contacts, a operating pressure adjustment nut pushing on a coil spring. Loosening the spring tension lowers the operating pressure, tightening the tension of the spring raises the operating pressure. This is the adjuster of the tank pressure. The only leaking of air should be, after the pressure is satisfied, when the pressure relief valve is activated by the satisfied pressure switch. Any other leaks are considered leaks.
To remotely control the compressor to run/stop, a solenoid valve can be installed on the air tank outlet, or a switch (or timeclock) connected in series with the pressure switch contacts and power supply.
For finishing touch, I recommend you install an automatic electronic timed drain valve to drain water out of the air tank, beats doing it manually, plumbing required.

?? LOCATE A MANUAL/PARTS DIAGRAM FOR CLARKE AIR COOMPRESSOR

You didn't state your model number but the only place I could find that has manuals for Clark air compressors is Clark Power Porducts UK at: www.clarkeservice.co.uk/product_manuals/air_compressors.shtml. Usually if you have an air leak at the pressure switch when the tank is full and after the motor shuts off it is indicative of a stuck or broken tank check valve. Sometimes they can be cleaned and will work for a while but more often than not they have to be replaced.

Coleman POWERMATE Lo502710. Compressor runs and builds up pressure and then keeps on running even when 100 PSI. It will not shut off. I do not hear a leak when I pull the electric plug to make it stop...

There is a problem with your pressure switch. You should have a little black box with a red lever to turn your air compressor on and off. This housing contains your pressure switch, the pressure switch sends an electrical signal to the switch to make your air compressor run. When enough pressure builds up the pressure switch activates, and breaks the signal until the pressure drops below a certain point. I will do some more research on your compressor and find out which pressure switch you need to order. i need you to find any numbers on the compressor you can, serial number, model, stock number, anything you can to help me find the part number.
Thank you for patience,

I broke the red on off switch, on my preasure switch

IF YOUR TALKING ABOUT THE ON/OFF SWITCH ON YOUR PRESSURE SWITCH JUST REPLACE THE PRESSURE SWITCH WITH A NEW ONE FROM ANYWHERE - ONE THAT HAS THE SWITCH ON THE SIDE. TAKE YOUR OLD PRESSURE SWITCH WITH YOU TO MATCH IT. IF IT HAS SOME FANCY SWITCH MADE INTO THE COVER YOU CAN ADD THE PRESSURE SWITCH WITH THE SWITCH ON THE SIDE OR JUST BYPASS IT ALL TOGETHER. IT DOESNT EVEN HAVE TO BE THERE, THE COMPRESSOR WILL SHUT OFF AT CUTOFF PSI ANYWAY AND YOU COULD UNPLUG IT TO KEEP IT FROM RUNNING WHEN YOUR NOT USING IT. THE PRESSURE SWITCH W/ ON/OFF ON THE SIDE IS VERY AVAILABLE. HOPE THIS HELPS, JODY
