If it's the touch pad, it may be locked.

Or you may need to find the drivers for it.

If it's locked, to unlock it, it should have a button above the touch pad in the center that has an LED above it. If it doesn't contain a button, your computer should contain a set of FN keys, the FN keys work in conjunction with your number keys. There should be a number key with an icon of something that looks like the touch pad. hold fn + that and it should unlock.

If these aren't the case your pad could be un-lactched from the ribbon, in that case you'll need to tighten it.

If that's not the case, it may be broken.

Toshiba satellite l505 mouse/click pad stopped working. Does not respond always. Either gets

Maybe you pressed the button to lock the touchpad. On some models there is a button located at the top of the touchpad in the middle that toggles the touchpad/mouse on or off.

On other models you have to tap twice in the upper left hand corner of the touchpad to toggle it on or off.

Some models you have to Press and Hold the ALT or FN key then hit the key that toggles the touchpad. Normally the key that toggles the touchpad will have the icon of a finger pointing at a square which represents the touch pad.

If all fails you can always download and reinstall the touchpad drivers.
Get onlineand got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "ToshibaSupport" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operatingsystem when requested. Download and install the drivers.

The touchpad (and buttons) stopped working. No response at all. External mouse works fine, so it is not a software issue. Could this be a loose connection? or do these fail after a while? Are the...

Is there a button with a light on it near your touch pad, sometimes these buttons don't have lights? Usually this button is centered on the bottom or top of the touch pad. If there is a button like this, then try pressing it to see if it gives you functionality of the touch pad. If you do have a button like this and it doesn't resolve the problem then there is a possibility that the touch pad has malfunctioned or that the connector has come loose somehow. If you don't have this type of button then look at your keyboard to see if there is a function key for turning off\on the touch pad. Look for the FN key. What color is it? Then look at the keys that have icons in that color. If you find one that you believe is for the keyboard then try pressing that key and the FN key at the same time.

they keyboard is bad for sure, they make them so flimsy that the keys could be off. You can try moving your fingers back and forth on it from left to right in a sweeping motion to see if there are any stuck keys that could be affecting the keys.

If you do this and you have the same problems. Call Toshiba or the store you got the laptop from and get a replacement keyboard. Sounds like to me they used a refurbished keyboard on that laptop even though its new, companies do that form time to time and never tell the customer.

Frozen mouse with a touch pad laptop computer

Many laptops have a button, usually located right above the touchpad, that disables the touchpad.

And there may be drivers that need to be loaded for some touchpads to operate properly, in case you've reinstalled the OS.
