SOURCE: 980: Fatal Error

From the Service Manual:
*Service call
980:Error

*Error by media
clinging to the fuser

*Media has clung to the fuser.

*Power OFF
Replace the fuser unit.

Suggestion -
Before you replace the fuser, take it out and check for a piece of stuck label, paper, etc. You can spin the fuser roller by turning the gear on the side.

SOURCE: fatal error 917 on an Oki C9600 printer

A fatal error 917 means there is a problem regarding the belt **** sensor.

Usually it means the printer can't see the transfer belt rotating.

First thing to try is to remove and re install the transfer belt, if that does not work you should replace the transfer belt.

This is a PS Can't Happen Failure and occurs when an error has been detected in the PostScript core.

If an address is displayed on the LCD, note it down for future reference.

Restart the printer and it should be cleared.

as an Authorized Okidata Service Provider I believe these "TABS" should be the color of BLUE. release the tabs and the entire fuser come out just grab the handle that usually comes equipped with the fuser , it is usuallyon top just grap ir and lift it out. Install the New One and your Done.

Just to confirm that Jeff Hughes is correct. 928 does refer to paper wrapped around the fuser rollers making the thermistor see nothing hence the 928. If there is no paper in the fuser then it will need to be replaced. Remember to turn the machine off when removing or replacing the fuser.

When we restart our oki c5700 we get the fatal error 928. Can you help me to solve this problem?

Thank you for using FixYa

I guess the real quesiton is whether you are prepared to fix your own printer. This error is a fuser error and the Internal part - Fuser will need to be replaced. This is best preformed by a qualified technician and keep in mind that there may be some smaller components that may need to be replaced as well as the fuser. See fixyourownprinter.com for more information.

I hope this was useful and please comment if this was helpful to you.

The printer is on and when I send documents to

Error 928 is generated by the "Engine" board that controls all of the motors, clutches and sensors in the printer. It indicates a Fuser lock motor error usually caused by the Fuser or Fuser motor not rotating. First step is to remove and inspect the fuser. This is at the rear of the printer, has a blue lock lever on both sides and lifts out. Any damage to the rollers can cause it to jam or if there is a sheet of paper wrapped around a roller. be careful when removing a fuser as these can be extremely hot, follow the instructions in the documentation that came with your printer to remove the Fuser.

Oki c5200 fatal error 121

We had a similar problem with an Oki C7300. It was reading "Fatal Error 121" on the display.

We fixed it by simply unplugging the printer from a surge strip and plugging it into the wall directly. After that, the error went away and has not come back.
