Hello,

You actually cannot program your the direct tv remote to work for your television.

You can only connect your direct tv box to work on the AV channel of your television, and you also have to search for channels onto your direct tv box, and the channels you searched for are the channels you can view on your television. But only on your AV channel.

You cannot program the direct tv box remote to work for your television.
It only works for your direct tv box only.

Also ensure that the connection made from the direct tv to your television is proper.

Take care

Hello,

Remove clutter and consolidate all your remotes simply by learning a little about universal remote control programming.
Where Can You Buy a Universal Remote?
Universal remotes can be purchased either online or from any electronics store. Before purchasing your universal remote, do some research to determine which remotes will meet your needs and budget expectations. You will want to check that they are compatible with your make and model of TV and other electronics. Also, you may want to check what the top-reviewed brands are online and use that information to help you make a decision.
Top 5 Things You Can Do with Your Universal Remote
Once you consolidate all of your existing remotes for home theater electronics, including television, cable, VCR, DVD and audio equipment, with a quality universal remote, you should be able to:

  1. Program your remote for set functions like turning on your TV, cable box and A/V receiver at the same time.
  2. Navigate the menus on your DVD player and cable/satellite boxes.
  3. Use the channel and volume up and down selectors to control cable, TV and audio equipment.
  4. Control other electrical devices such as a ceiling fan or light switches.
Things to Know Before Programming Your Universal Remote
  • You will need to locate the codes for all your remote controls to program your remote. Each brand and model number has a specific code. You can look for these in the product literature that came with the remotes, or find them online. If you can’t find the codes, many devices have a code search function that will help you locate a potential match.
  • If you have a lot of devices, you will want to read your remote’s literature to determine how to program macros so that you can perform multiple functions at one time. This will be especially helpful when you want to do a specific function like watch a movie on your DVD player. By setting a macro, you can press one button and turn on your TV, DVD player and receiver and set the volume to a good level and open the DVD player to insert your movie.
  • Pay special attention to the video recorder that you have. If you own a DVR recorder, ensure that the remote you select can handle these devices and that the volume and channel buttons can control other devices, including the receiver and cable box.
  • Consider the remote’s power supply. Some remotes need to be reprogrammed when the batteries die. Purchase a remote that has either a charging station or uses flash memory to avoid having to reprogram your remote.

Hope this helpout.....

OR YOU CAN TRY THE FOLLOWING

  • You need to turn on your television set.

  • Step 2On your DirecTV remote, press the "TV" button once.

  • Step 3Now, press and hold the "Setup" button until the "TV" light goes off.

  • Step 4Enter "991" on your remote control, using the numeric keypad. The "TV" light on the remote should blink twice.

  • Step 5Aim your remote at the television and slowly alternate between pressing "TV and "Power" on your remote, until the television set turns off. Once it turns off, press "Setup" on your remote control to lock in the code.

  • Step 6To search for codes for other devices and program them into your remote, repeat Steps 1 to 5, but use the appropriate key for your device instead of "TV."

  • GOOD LUCK...........

HOW DO I DO CONNECTIONS OF INCOMING CABLE AND DIGITAL ADAPTER TO TV, VCR, AND DVD PLAYER?

Without seeing the exact connections for each device, i'm going to have to guess. But you should be able to connect your VCR to either your tv directly or to your DVD player. Remember you will need to use the "input" button on your TV or DVD player remote to switch from cable tv to your VCR and back.

I have a Toshiba SD-K860SU DVD video player that I have connected to my Panasonic TC-32LX60 LCD TV, but I cannot get the DVD player to work. My TV is connected to my Comcast cable service black box. Should...

You should use the component video input (which ever the TV has), you will get better pictures than the S-video.
As far as the remote control for the DVD, keep using the one that comes with your DVD player, Comcast remote does not always work, beside you get full function using the DVD's remote, that is how I use my DVD, same for the TV, Comcast remote my not be able to send out the signals to the ATV for selecting the input sources on the TV. Comcast remote is not a full functions remote.

Would like to record from my tv to my magnavox dvd/vcr combo box

If I understand your request right, You do not have cable or satellite box.
You can not record from your TV. You use the TV as a monitor from the dvd/vcr combo box. What the box receives is what shows on the TV. So you will have to have a digital convertor hooked to the (antenna in) dvd/vcr combo box, (antenna out to the tv antenna in) Depending on the antenna you are using that is on the other end of your cable-in coax connection this will hook to your antenna in on the digital convertor box. If your cable is hooked up and operating correctly and directly to the tv that is digital ready you probabbly have a good picture. When the vhf/uhf signal was transmitted you could go from the dvd/vcr to the tv with no problem. But now that the signal is digital and the tv is set for digital the dvd/vcr will not pass a digital signal to the tv. Best suggestion, you have to get a digital dvd/vcr receiver. If you have more question please contact me.

How to program vcr to record digital channels?

Any VCR select to input source from where recording.
So select appropiate Euroscart or other AV connection.
Digital channel will be your digital cable set top box or sat receiver, DVD player, whatever. Very unlikely you use a digital capable set topbox to output to your VCR or TV with old fashioned RF coax cable where you have to tun in to cerain RF frequency under Channel 0 or so. So when in timer menu select that input source connection. Direct recording without timer select the source with remote. This solution applies to all brands

Connect tv vcr and dvd player to digital converter box

Yes you can first connect the converter box to the antenna first. Next hook the tv out on converter box to vcr in on vcr. Next hook the vcr out to the tv in and watch vcr and converter box on channel 3 sometimes channel 4.on the actual tv and of course change channels with converter box remote. For dvd player hook it straight to tv with red, white, and yellow cables that come with your dvd player. Then to watch dvd player if it's hooked up that way you have to put your tv on a input like video 1 or input 1. This can be done by using the tv remote and looking for a button that says tv/video or input or source button. This is some common names for that button on tv remotes.

To connect my dvd player

Check your remote. On my Sentry 2, the magic is the SOURCE button, which allows you to access the AUX (auxilliary) channel. This is what you need to select to view your DVD output.

I am not sure about Direct TV but dish network does not allow the hookup to go through their box...it must go through the TV only. Speaking with Duraband at 1-800-256-2487 confirms you have to have a Duraband remote and universals won't program to it. Ask for parts dept. and order a new remote. Sorry - not good news for me either!!!
