I have ordered a battery door for my CD43 as the plastic tip has broken and a new door with new tip will keep the door closed tightly. I see the rod in the back of the door with a black cover which I assume can be grasped with a needle nose pliers and pushed to the right to release the door hinge. Is that right? How can I fix the hinge on my Kenmore elite freezer door

Go to an online appliance parts store and enter your model number on the page. You should get at least one exploded parts diagram. Look at the section for the door - the pieces of the hinge mechanism are shown there. Identify the broken piece. The one I looked at (called a "door cam") was a bit over $5, but I didn't provide a link because I don't know what model you have.

The fun part is figuring out how to disassemble the door so you can change the part. There might be a YouTube video showing the procedure. I strongly suggest having someone help you by holding the door while you undo the fasteners. You may be able to disassemble the broken hinge and leave the other in place (check the parts on that one before you order in case that also needs a new piece), but you should still have a helper.

Safari rear door latch broken

It could be that the rod has come detached from the latch mechanism itself. I had this problem on my 94 Safari. I had to remove the panel for the hatch portion (I have the dutch doors) and release the door manually (Terrible design not having an easily accessed internal release!). Once you have the door open, you can reconnect the rod into the original socket. I recommend using some safety wire through some existing holes to pull the rod tightly into the socket, but not so tight that the rod will not move. another option is to use a clip like this one that fits around the rod and linkpoint. Either of these will keep the rod firmly in place.

1998 4x4 ford explore driver side door will not

There are long linkage rods from the inside handle to the latch assembly. There should be an adjustment on these links. Too tight keeps latch from locking, too loose it won't unlatch. Use a screw driver or rod to trip the latch asm so you don't have to keep opening and closing the door. Also if it sticks closed and won't unlatch, the door won't be locked closed on you.

1992 Ford Explorer Sport. Outside door handle not

Door handle seems loose and not connected? Then the plastic clip broke inside the door. Take off the door panel, 3 screws, and door lock cap and plastic insert around inside door handle. pry around the bottom first, and go up, when you reach the top, pull up, please be carefull to not break any more plastic. you will see a squarish opening midway up the door toward the latch. reach in and pull a rod toward the opening. You see a broken piece of plastic on the tip? if so take it off and get the replacement part for it at an autoparts store, install the new one and your set. I have broke to many of these so i ended up bending the end of the rod and using a nut to hold it in.:]

My driver side door handle is broken on a 2003 VW new beetle. How can I fix it?

remove the inside door trim and remove the weatherproof plastic that covers the holes in the door behind the trim.
You should have access to the door handle nuts and rods to remove the handle.
re assemble in the reverse order and make sure the weatherproof plastic is put back on and sealed or your door may let water enter the car via the door

Golf won't unlock?

Go to a VW dealer and purchase a new lock cylinder. Normally it the little tip at the end of the cylinder has broken off. If you want to keep the old keys you may have to take the parts from the new cylinder and exchange them with the old one. make sure you number the lock pins first and keep them in order, other wise it will not work. I've done it for my VW and I am not a machanic. Joe

Nikon D200 battery door - is it broken?

The battery door is meant to come off so the MB-D200 battery pack can be inserted, but it sounds as if yours has broken. There should be equally-sized rods that form the pivoting hinge, on on top and one on the bottom. Yes, you can buy a replacement part, probably through a local dealer or online. I believe online they cost around $20-$25. To remove the door, you are supposed to open the door to a 60-degree angle to the camera body and gently pull the door off. To replace the door, again, hold the door at a 60-degree angle to the body and gently press it into place. Or you could pay a repair shop an arm and leg to do this for you ($50 or more + shipping if you use a mail order repair shop).

I remember the 'good old days' when film SLR's were made to take a beating. Sadlly, we're in the era of plastic and I always have to remember to treat every piece of equipment as if it were made of glass!

Hope this helps?

Battery door doesn't close tight

Usually part of the plastic battery door breaks off so the sliding latch (when you push the battery door in toward the camera after replacing batteries) can't latch. If this is the problem you can buy a new battery door that will come with a new latch that isn't broken.
