I removed the pressure cooker from the box and I can't get it opened. There is no tape or screws. I have squeezed the handles, looked for any hidden reasons. I can't open it. I am used to the single handled cookers, you just turn and they open. There is some give to the lid when I try to open it but just a tiny bit. Help!

You are brilliant, it worked. I submerged it in very warm water, it popped right open. Thank you so much.

It's almost certainly due to atmospheric pressure. Warm it slightly and it will open.
I had the same problem with an underwater dive torch. Left Johannesburg (1000 metres above sea level) and went to Mauritius (10 metres above sea level) and I couldn't open torch!
