Question about Televison & Video

3 Answers

I have an LG 42LH30 TV on the factory stand. I want to put it into a wall unit that has a space exactly 1" shorter than the TV (width is fine). I can't use a wall-mounting bracket because the back of the piece of furniture is not strong enough. Can this stand be modified to make it shorter? There's a good 2.5" of space between the TV and the table-top. Any ideas?

I understand what Electronick's is saying & it would make sense EXCEPT the furniture is a room divider so the idea is to be able to see through it. The only truly strong supports are in the edges so the "beef up the back" solution would not look so great. It can be done but it's my final fall-back position. Does anyone know if LG makes a less fancy stand that I could buy instead of the swivel/tilt the TV came with?

Yes, I think that the problem is I was trying to force the furniture I have and the mount I have to work. Too much trouble to re-work the furniture so I should buy a different mount. THANKS

I would just drill new holes on the mount and then reposition everything so it fits.

When you say "mount" do you mean the factory mount or the wall mount I bought separately?

You can make your own holes on the wall mount. The table mount can be removed, cut and reinstalled as well to make it lower as well

Cheetah makes universal mounts. And you can cut off the access instead of having it stick out. They are also adjustable which I do think you might find handy.

You could double up the wood on the back of the piece of furniture, use some toggle bolts and then use the wall mount. Modding the stand would be more difficult than modding the furniture.. You could even just take a large piece of plywood or two 2x4s on the back of the furniture and sandwich the back of the furniture between the wall bracket and the newly added wood. Let me know how else I can help, but I think that's your best bet.. Make sure you have enough vertical space to put the tv up and over onto the wall bracket - need like 1 extra inch to get the tv onto the bracket. Let me know, best of luck!

I would say you have a 1% chance that an alternate stand is available. I don't really know, you would likely have to build a custom stand or try to mod the one you have.. maybe cut off part of it? Best of luck

How do you take a stand off

There are 4 screws found in the center bottom of rear plastic back. 2 at top and 2 at bottom - approx 1/2 inch from bottom the 1st 2 will be about 3 inches apart - then directly above there are 2 more. These screws hold the bracket that holds the stand. Once you remove the bracket there should be no parts sticking out further than the actual television and can now be mounted to the wall with a mounting system.

Hello my friend. Your PS3 might be near YLOD problem. GPU has been overheated and is almost broken and it can't render high graphics(resolution). You need to Clear the dust inside ps3 and let it "Power on" for 1 hour . If this not works. You have to give it to a near computer service shop to give it life again. Please Rate my help! Thanks!

42lh30 has bright spot in center

If the unit is under warranty, I would see if I could get LG to replace the LCD Panel. If is not under warranty I would try to live with it because of the cost to replace the Panel.
I hope this helps,

I had this problem on my 42" Philips. Just got it yesterday and worked fine on the tv stand. As soon as I mounted the TV to the wall via wall mount system, I had the exact same issue you did. Figured it out today.

The wall mount was putting pressure against the center of the back of the tv (tv set had a slightly rounded back plate, and the mount was a flat plate). As soon as I put spacers (part of the wall mount hardware set) between the wall mount braket and the tv so there was no contact except at the mounting holes, the tv worked fine.

My theory is the pressure pushed the tv back plate against some board components which caused them to overheat (no air flow); or put pressure on internal connectors. I dont know.

Hope this helps, may not apply to your situation.

Tryiny to put my Akai LCT3201AD TV on the wall

For a set this size, there should be at least 4 mounting holes for a wall bracket. Please note that wall mounting is an option so the holes may be covered by plastic caps to hide the holes. These holes should be in a box shape around 1 foot wide or so.

Lg lcd tv screen goes black but the sound still works 52lg70 screen goes blank, sound still works. i can change settings but cannot see the menu so the tv is still working there is just no picture.

This sounds like a mainboard problem. Unless you do not see a back light flash when you turn on the TV, which may mean it is an inverter board problem, this is most likely fixable by replacing the mainboard.
