My SonyEricsson P990 went through a full wash cycle in the soap drawer when my 2 year old decided I was talking too much on the phone. It was powered on when he stuck it in just after my wife had started a wash. I found it four hours later. Dismantled it, washed the washing powder away, blow dried it, re-assembled it and.... it worked!

I dropped mine in the toilet ): Its drying in the airing cupboard but i kept trying to turn it on- this is where I've gone wrong you need to take everything out battery etc. and wait up to 3 days to let it dry (no less than 24 hrs). Then try switching it on, its worked for some people.

One of my phone's went in the washing machine try the same thing if this doesn't work a new battery won't help.

What To Do if I Drop My Cell Phone in Water?

The small convenient size of cell phones unfortunately also makes these electronics accident-prone, especially when it comes to water. If you drop your cell phone in water it is often possible to salvage it. If you drop your cell phone in water, you may have only seconds to retrieve it, so you need to act fast even if it means retrieving it from the toilet!

The next thing to do if you drop your cell phone in water is to remove the battery immediately without even hesitating to turn off the power. Dry the batter with a towel and set aside to dry thoroughly. The battery itself may or may not work again, fortunately batteries can be replaced fairly inexpensively. Even if the battery does work, it is a good idea to get a new one.

After you have removed the battery, dry off the cell phone with an absorbent towel as best as you can. Use cotton swabs to soak up water in crevices and on any fragile, exposed circuits. It is also helpful to disassemble it if you can and let all the parts dry separately. Just be sure that you know how to put it back together. If it is a flip or sliding cell phone, leave it open.

If you drop your cell phone in a beverage or in salt water, rinse the phone off with fresh water once you have removed the battery. Once you drop the phone in water, the additional rinsing will not do further damage, however, minerals or other materials will.

If you drop your cell phone in liquid that isn’t pure water, you may want to try giving it an alcohol bath. The alcohol will displace minerals and microscopic substances as well as aiding in the evaporation of the fluid. If it is available, you should use an alcohol concentration of 95% rather than rubbing alcohol that usually contains only 70%.

Once your phone is clean, leave it in a warm dry area or near an air conditioner for three days before you attempt to replace the battery and turn it on. This is very important, because although you may think that you have thoroughly dried it, the slightest moisture can react with the battery and cause it to short circuit. If droped your cell phone in water, and want to save it, resist the temptation of turning it on to see if it is working until you have waited at least 72 hours.

How To Quickly Repair Your Mobile Phone Dropped In Water

Now, there is no need to panic if your mobile phone gets dropped in water or you get stuck up in a bad rain and your clothes as well as your mobile phone gets wet. All you need to do is follow the following three tips that will fix your phone with water damage:-

(A) Act Quickly : straight away get into action and remove every cover and detachable part you possibly can like memory card, the SIM card, battery and back cover, etc. Now use a toilet paper or a thin cloth to blot away any excess water you can see inside of the phone and be sure to get as much as you can. Otherwise, all this water will start evaporating and collecting in hard to reach various places in your phone.
Your phone may work now if it was only submerged for a short period of time.

B) Quick Drying : Grab a hairdryer and start drying your phone paying extra attention to the battery housing as this normally has small holes which allow air (and ironically enough water) into the phone.

warning: Don’t hold the hair dryer too close to the phone. Keep it at a distance whereby if you put your hand in front of the hair dryer it would not burn you. Bringing it closer could damage your phone’s electrical components. If i am sounding serious, try putting a hair dryer up against a sheet of paper for a few seconds. It turns it brown – would you want that happening to the inside of your phone?

If 20-30 minutes of this doesn’t work – go to plan C.

C) Long Term Drying : By putting it in a warm dry place you allow the water to slowly evaporate and escape through the holes in the phone (remove the covers and battery when doing this).

My iphone 4 drop in my dishwater with bleach will it dry out and work again

Dropping a switched on cell phone into bleached water will certainly damage the electronics in the cell phone.
You can remove the battery and dry it out, but most likely it is damaged beyond repair.

Phone is dead after drop into water

Remove the battery and allow the unit to dry thourouhly. Take a hair dryer to it if need be. Once dry, reinsert the battery. The unit should boot up. Water doesn't tend to cause any lasting damage. Pop (soda) or wine or anything that is sugary will fry the unit though. Good-luck.

I dropped the phone in water and it works but some of the keys stick for one thing, and the indicator light is yellow...

The water is not yet very dry from the phone and part of the phone panel might have been rust as a result of the water.

Remove the battery, loose the phone and heat the phone panel with bulb to allow the water dry very well.

But do not allow it over heat.

Take care.

Mobile LG gone into water - need repair centre in Sydney City or West

When a phone drops into water, first thing to do is to remove the battery, loose the phone, and dry with heat. Allow phone to dry very well and allow it to cool before you couple the phone back. After all these, put it back on and don't be surprised to see your phone working well again.

Most at times when phone drops into water and battery is not removed, or phone is not dried immediately, the panel in the phone will begin to rust and it might be hard to fix.

I wish you the best of luck.

My phone was dropped in water, it can make calls the outter screen works but the inner screen doesn't, I love my phone I wish it would work! What do I do? I can recieve messages but I can't see them

have you tried to "dry" it? remove the battery and back cover and place the phone in a jar, then fill it with rice and put the lid on it. in a couple of days, remove it and reinstall the battery to see if it works. it worked for my daughter's sidekick, but we did this immediately without powering it up as the water would cause damage.

Dropped in water keeps saying insert sim .nokia 6230i

Turn it off. NOW!

Open up the battery compartment / remove the battery, remove the SIM card and anything else that will allow improved air access to the phone.

Now find somewhere warm to leave it to thoroughly dry out - An airing cupboard is a good place. The oven is not!

Alternatively, if you have any bags of silica-gel lying around (the little sachets that come in electronic goods packaging) place the phone in a sealed bag with a few of them.

Leave it for at least 24 hours to dry out and then see if the problem has rectified itself.

I don't want to sound too pessimistic, but there is only a slim chance that this will work. Unless you dropped it in distilled water, any remaining residue left once it has dried out could still cause further problems.
