What causes leak between filter and filter housing on kenmore elite model 40141003010.

Hello Emile;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

I assume your changed the below component:

25693704-zbtre13rzitqz5mqvrpod1im-1-0.jpg At the ends of the plastic tubing are plastic push pull connectors. If the tubing is not properly seated and locked into the connector you will have a leak.
You may also have a crack in the connecting tubing from the water tank.
When you use your water dispenser, the water dispenser solenoid valve allows 65 PSI water pressure into the plastic tubing line, where if you have a bad connector or a crack in the line will cause a leak.
The is a plastic cap on the top of the above component.
1.) Put your fingers behind the above component where the tubing goes into the plastic mounting head. More often than not you can get bad parts
2.) Have someone push the water dispenser lever. Observe if water is running down the plastic tubing or if your fingers are getting wet.

I have a GE Profile Arctica refrigerator - water is leaking from the punctured plastic hose going up to the water filter (plastic hose from the bottom of the solenoid goes into refrigerator assembly)....

Good day!!!!

Refrigerators with a defrost cycle drain the melted water from the evaporator coils through a tube or a hole into a drip pan underneath the refrigerator. The water usually evaporates, but most times the pan is removable and can be drained. If this path of water is blocked at any point because the drain hole or tube is crimped or clotted with anything, it will back up inside the refrigerator area and try to find a way out, usually under the crisper drawers. To fix this, clear the obstruction in the drain tube. The drain pan at the bottom of the refrigerator can overflow or get old, crack, and develop a leak. Other times, mold can grow in the drain tube and clog it. Most refrigerators have an ice and/or water system built into them. This means that you have a waterline attached to the back of your refrigerator and it comes out as ice or cold water. Anywhere that water travels through the refrigerator and freezer can turn into a leak. To find the leak, you need to follow the tubes that carry the water through the appliance and make sure that all connections are tight.
Leaking containers or spills in the refrigerator can be misdiagnosed as leaks. First make sure that there are no puddles of juice, milk, water, etc. on one of the large capacity shelves.

I hope this solution will be helpful...Thanks for using fixya..

Two possibilities:
1. A cracked plastic tube. These will leak whenever there's a call for water - either the chilled water dispenser, or re-filling the icemaker tray (two seperate tubes). Pay particular attention to anywhere the tubes are clamped to the chassis; anywhere they're routed near or under the refrigeration unit; and near the solenoid valve - especially if there's a tight loop in the tube there.
2. A bad (leaking) connection where one of the tubes exits the water valve. Again, these will leak whenever the valve is activated.

Those plastic tubes don't last forever. I've replaced many of them for the same symptoms. They're known to simply deteriorate with age.
Manuf's make good money selling replacement tubing kits.

I believe your water line or the union nut just behind the kickplate may have come loose. Lets see if we can find a repair kit and get you going again. Depending on where the line is broken or leaking will depend on just how much you will need to do so if leaking at the union nut please disregard removal of door.
WARNING

To avoid risk of electrical shock, severe personal injury or death; disconnect power to unit before servicing, unless

testing requires power. Discharge capacitor through a 10,000 ohm resistor before handling. Wires removed during
disassembly must be placed on the correct terminals to ensure proper grounding and polarization.

sea_breeze_2.png Here are the instructions from the manual below.

1. Open door and remove all storage buckets.

2. Remove toe grille.

NOTE: Shut off water supply before performing Step 3.

Have a bucket ready to catch spillage from tube.

3. Loosen water-tube clamp screw. Loosen plastic

water-tube union nut. Pull water tube away from

union nut and through tube clamp.

4. Remove screw that mounts door closure to top

surface of bottom hinge.

5. Close door.

6. Remove screw holding top hinge cover in place.
Remove top-hinge cover.

7. Unplug wiring harness connectors. Remove ground
screw and ground wire from top hinge.

8. Remove top hinge and hinge bushing. Pull hinge and

bushing off wiring harness.

NOTE: Hinge shim is glued to top of cabinet and must

be left in place.

9. Lift door about 3 inches to bring lower hinge bushing

up, off hinge pin.

10. Set bottom edge of door on protective pad. Remove

hinge pin (with door-closure tab) from bottom hinge

bracket.
11. Reverse procedure to rehang door.

Water does not stop pouring from water/ice dispenser. Door-to-door GE Profile Refrigerator Model TFX22PPDACC. How to troubleshoot the problem? Or what part need to be replaced?

With the water running tube/pipe is cracked in between or its got loose from its fitting.First inspect the line for this problem. The tube from which water passes, one end is connected to the water valve at the back base of refrigerator. And then from valve two tube runs. One tube is for water dispenser and another tube is for ice chamber filling.Follow that tube from back of the refrigerator. The water dispenser tube That passes through the freezer door also. And the ice maker tube. That connects to the back of ice maker tray. The water fills in the tray.See if that tube is got loose and its not throwing water out instead of ice maker tray. Many a times this happens.--- May be you need to remove the ice maker to get exact location for tube setting and position.----------- But if tubes from water and ice dispenser sections are fitted properly and then there can be crack in the tube.------------But if tubes checked out ok then other possibility can be faulty water fill grommet.------- The grommet is cracked. And that is causing the leak.--------- Go to the back of the unit and remove the cover at the lower right of the unit. This is where the water line goes into your unit. Remove the water line at the solinoid that goes to your ice maker . This will allow you enough slack to remove the old water fill tube and replace it with the new one.
You need to push the white retainers in to release the tubeing from the solenoids.
    ------------
The part you need is called fill tube grommet. It has to be removed and replaced. The tube is connected to the grommet. Click this link below for more help:---http://technoanswers.blogspot.com/2011/06/how-to-remove-ice-maker-fill-tube-from.html
------------ The other possibility for this leak, is water valve. The water valve close and open. When its open, it lets water to the tube. When it closes it stops water. But if the valve is not closing then it will let the water to enter non stop, slowly --- slowly the inside tube getw over filled and then starts leaking.------------ The water valve is not required as per the problem. But if after doing all the repairing, still the same problem, noticed then water valve is required.Because is water valve is not closing properly, then it leaks some water, (drop by drop) and this can cause water to collect in the grommet and this gets formed into ice and the same leaking repeats.---------but at present dont buy water valve.Just keep an eye on this same problem.sometimes leaking will start after few days.In that case also replace water vale.------- Now for other parts, that are extension hose, icemaker tube and clamp.Out of this you will require clamps, sometimes while removing old tube the clamp gets cracked.you can buy this. The extension hose is required if the tube is getting short or actual hose is cracked in between.i dont think you will require extension hose at present. And for ice maker tube. This tube can also be cracked and cause leak.this tubes by time gets bit swollen and loose its grip. Its actually not required. But if you still replace it, that it will be good.--------so you can order clamp and icemaker tube with the grommet part.----------- The parts which you want to order, this is direct link for parts:-- 1. Dual Inlet Water Valve------------ (http://www.partselect.com/PS901314-GE-WR57X10051-Dual-Inlet-Water-Valve.htm)
    2. Icemaker Water Line ----------

A GE Profile Model, double door refrigerator with a water leak

If the leak is on the refrig water valve where the wall water line connects to , then use a 1/2" wrench and tighten the fitting on the water valve itself . If the leak is on the plastic tubing at the bottom of the refrig water valve , pull up on the small white ring while pushing down on the plastic tube to remove it from the valve . Cut off about 1 " of the tubing and reinsert it into the valve with pretty good pressure to be sure it is inserted completely .

    Water leak from ice maker

The fill line internal to the freezer is likely frozen up from the elbow inward.. When the icemaker calls for fill...pressure builds up on the plastic tubing causing it to pop out of the elbow. Check the tube inside the freezer by removing icemaker and running a long thin screwdriver or a rigid wire up into the tube until you feel ice or the plastic elbow outside.

Clear ice, if present, by squeezing hot water in from freezer side with turkey baster until cleared and water comes out back.

Leaking water on floor only happens when making ice

I wonder if you just notice the noise now because the leak has you more aware? First things first. Lift up the arm on the ice maker (a few hours prior to attempting service) to stop it's operation. You need to roll the unit forward to give you access to the back. You'll see a plastic tube that runs from the bottom compartment (water valve) to the ice maker fill tube. Lower the arm of the ice maker and observe the plastic tube for the location of the leak. The most likely spot would be at the top. A hose clamp can be put on the fill tube after making sure the plastic supply tube is completely inserted into the fill tube. The fill tube is the piece that goes through the rear bulkhead and delivers the water to the icemaker. It may be neccessary to remove the icemaker to thaw out the fill tube using a hair dryer.

Hello? I have a new Eclipse Kenmore being installed Tuesday 12/23. What do I need to provide for a water supply?

    Hi,

I see your installation date has come and gone, but if you still need to hook up the water you can find an "ice-maker kit" from almost any home improvement store (such as Lowes, Ace, Home Depot etc....) This includes 1/4" bendable copper tubing and a valve that will tap a near by cold water supply pipe. If you find a kit with plastic tubing, I would steer clear and find the bendable copper. Plastic tubing kits are notorious for springing leaks. Buy some extra compression nuts and washers for the tubing while you are there, it may take more than one try to get a waterproof seal if this is your first time hooking up water and ice dispenser.

When hooking up the tubing to the back of the refridgerator, leave a couple coils of slack to allow the refridgerator to be pushed in or pulled out without straining the connection. There is usually a small clamp on the refridgerator back to hold the tubing steady, make sure you use this. This will help ensure a leak free connection. After you have the tube hooked up, push the refridgerator all the way back, then pull it back out and check for leaks. Sometimes the tube will start dripping a bit after the refridgerator is moved, so this step helps ensure you won't have leak problems.
