The filter is clean. The evaporator is not frosted. We had turned it off last night. I am not sure where the tray is, we have a pvc that comes out through the side wall of the house that does drip when the air is on).

The small copper pipe is warm, the larger one is cool and has moisture.

Please be specific, I am a women who does not know much about air conditioners and can not afford to call a repair person.

Do you hear the compressor running? If yes then the display read the temperature you have set? If not then does it accept any other command such as changing modes, adjusting fan speed etc? Please answer these questions so that I can help you with your problem.

Hello,

Is your filter clean? Look and the evaporator in the inside unit. Is it frosted up? Do you have condensation water in the pan? Go to the outside unit and feel the air coming out of the fan. Is it warm? Now feel the 2 copper pipes coming out of the unit. Is the small one warm or hot? Is the larger one cool ? Is there moisture on it?

Your device surface or filter might might clog with dist, get air vacuum pump to vacuum the surface and coil on your unit, also, a very vital thing to also look at is, the unit most likely might be low on freon, you will need to refill the compressor with freon.

Take care.

    Hello,

I advice you refill the compressor,it is low on freon, adding more freon to the device will improve the performance and will cool appropriately.

    Take care.

Hi,
On many thermostats you need to take the cooling temperature up before you can set the heating temperature higher...you need to maintain a 2 of degree deadband between the two settings...

Honeywell Chronotherm iv fan keeps running even when heat and cool turned off. How do I turn it off?

To turn the fan off, press the "fan key" until it says "auto". This will turn the fan off. When the programs scheduled, changes, the fan will go on again. You have to repeat the fan to "auto" each time the schedule changes.

Honeywell RTH230B a/c problem

if you set the thermostat on 70 and your house won't get ant cooler than 72, there is a problem with your system, not your stat. I'm thinking you are low on refrigerant if it is somewhat working. when the unit is running, if you can get your hand on the larger refrigerant line under the black insulation, it should be cold, about 55 degrees.

I have a Honeywell Chronotherm IV Plus a/c unit and I can't get my air condt. to turn on. The room temp. says it's 17 degrees in the house so it won't turn on. I need to know how to reset the room tempt....

Not only are the Chronotherm IV's less than user friendly, they have a terrible failure rate. It sounds like one of the typical failures of the chronotherm IV. I suggest starting with a new thermostat.
