My son accidentally delete our sony laptop dvd

My son accidentally delete an integral file for the cd/dvd driver. Currently, my laptop is unable to read any cd's I put in there. Is there any possible way to retrieve those files or fix my cd/dvd drive?

Go to this location, select your operating system, and download the drivers available for your notebook model.
Hope you are able to sort your problems out soon.

Bought a Sony optiarc AD-7261S, but have an IDE connection, so got a ADP-06 bridge board to connect the drive using my IDE cable. The Sony is the 2nd cd/dvd drive on this computer, and after plugging it...

you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd drive restart your computer then plug them back in this should activate the found new hardware wizard or you might have to uninstall then reinstall your DVD/CD or uninstall the driver then reinstall for this device Click start control panel administrive tools,computer management,device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question mark ? right click you will have options to update driver,roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer
Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.
hope this helps

For some reason my CD/DVD player burner on my Toshiba A135 Laptop is not recognizing CD's or DVD's. I hear the drive spinning when I first install a disk but then nothing occurs. I ran a diagnostic on...

you might have accidentally uninstalled physically...
you also might have uninstalled the driver
you might have a virus
if you physically uninstalled it... physically reseat the burner...
if you uninstalled the driver...find the driver and reinstall it...
to check for virus get dr web cure IT and do a scan...
if that doesn't work call your pc tech support they will gladly help you...

Device Manager found a problem with the driver and can not be fixed automatically. Need to download the Integrated CD-RW/DVD Combo Driver.

If the drive is showing an error (or is missing) in device manager, do the following:

Start Registry Editor (Start, Run and type in regedit then click O.K)
Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
Quit Registry Editor.

Hope this helps

I'm currently unable to install sound driver for gateway laptop model MX6024

as long as you have the correct drivers this should work transfer the files from the source onto a file on your computer boot in safe mode and install the drivers from file, as your dvd-cd will not work in safe mode or boot in safe mode with network support and install from gateway website
