Question about Exercise & Fitness
I have a Power First treadmill, model 1050.1. On the time display, every 5-10 seconds it displays the message "E3". It seems to be running fine, and the timer advances while the message displays. What is the problem? I don't have a manual (or can't locate it at least).
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

If you don't have the manual, see if the proform website has a PDF version available for download. They seem to have a lot of past models available. On our system (ProForm T10.0, PFTL0505.0) an E2 error meant the belt speed (according to the sensor) was too slow. The treadmill should come up to the selected speed within 7 seconds or this error is triggered.
Icon service turned out to be knowledgable and fair, although they can be hard to get ahold of on the phone. If you hold too long, then you are given a chance to enter your phone number. I had to contact them several times, and they did call me back each time I left my number.
Unfortunately several things can cause the belt not to run or not run well, so start with the easiest to fix items first like lubrication and tension adjustment (get a manual from the website if you don't have one--it covers this adjustment). Maybe clean the speed sensor wheel with compressed air or a q-tip (our model had a slotted wheel on the drive shaft which spins through an LED light detector).
If the speed is off, try calibrating the treadmill. Icon service can tell you how to do it (it's not in the manual).

If everything still works but no belt movement, you motor controller is more than likely shot. If replacing you want to also pay attention to the deck and belt. Sence it sut down while running, it sound it an over heating problem which is usually caused from too much friction between the walking belt and the deck(the board under it) May require lube or may need replacing.

if you look at the front roller. there will be a black device that has two wires. this is your speed sensor. Make sure it is facing the magnet on the roller.

SOURCE: e3 error and treadmill shuts off
One of the safety sensors is reading false. Mainly times this is just a cleaning issue. Remove the lower cover and look for a pickup sensor either, both on the end of the motor or end of the front roller, look for the one that is a disk, should have a sensor with wires leading to the circuit board. try blowing it out with a dust blower or carefully vacuum, it can get bumped and be out of alignment.
