Is my linux computer compatible with windows xp software? are the parts interchangeable? example= installing a linux video card in a windows 7 tower?

Most devices that have Unix drivers will also have drivers available for some versions of Windows. Asus lists XP drivers for this board: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_Socket_754/K8V_SE_Deluxe/#download . The K8V-SE Deluxe motherboard is not listed as Win7 compatible (but it's not listed as known incompatible either). To test if this board is Win7 compatible, update to the most recent BIOS, then use a Win7 install DVD to search for drivers and other support. (I know the Windows Update disc confirmed that my WinXP box would support Win7.)

For moving components into another computer, you will need to identify the exact device that you want to move and the slot/interface for that device. For example, since ASUS K8V-SE Deluxe motherboard has an AGP video card slot, it will not fit in a newer tower with only PCIe or PCI slots. If your Win7 tower does have an AGP slot, you may need to look in will amongst the drivers for "legacy cards". Finding an XP driver will be fairly easy. The Windows 7 driver may not exist and Win7 may not run without an external video card (if it can load at all).

I hope this helps. If you are looking at a different motherboard or wish to check specific components, please add a comment with the make and model of those parts. I'll be glad to try to find additional information. Include in your comment whether the Win7 tower is/will be running Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit. Drivers for the 32-bit Windows are more common since they don't need the signature. (To check if a Windows machine is currently running Win7 64-bit, click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System. If the title ends with x64, it's the 64-bit OS. Otherwise it's the 32-bit version.)

I HAVE HP P1007 BUT CAN NOT OPERATE ON WIN 98

I also have a HP, which came with win2000 and right from the beginning, I replaced it with Ubuntu Linux. Linux is an old company that produces free software. Three parts are very desirable: (1) Cost is US $ 00.00; (2) It is totally impervious to viruses and xxxware. You don't need to buy any antivirus or anti-malware. (3) When you get your disk for US $ 00.00, besides the OS, it contains ALL THE SOFTWARE THAT YOU COULD POSSIBLY NEED FOR THE LIFE OF YOUR COMPUTER AND MORE. We could install a windows XP Professional and a Ubuntu Linux, for the same price. I believe the Windows XP Home Edition costs US $ 95.00, If you want to use a combination with Windows XP Professional the price is US 150.00, plus labor which we will make very reasonable. Once you get used to the Ubuntu Linux, they say that you have migrated from windows to Ubuntu Linux. Then you can remove all the Windows stuff and enjoy life with the Ubuntu Linux. I have a little 19 page very well written booklet. I can send you a copy, if you request it from me direct (my e-mail). Again I would like to mention that I have an extremely good relationship with my employer and I will make sure that I have his permission in writing, before we start any work. So, basically windows 2000 is very bad by design and this is the only way we can recommend something else and only with the agreement of my employer. CONSTANTIN <arzobconst@yahoo.com>

Wanted better operating system then linux suse on my msi u90!!

Yes you can change to any operating systems at any time. You can change to linux's earlier versions or later versions, or you can change to windows wp/vista/me/98/95. When you buy a computer it comes with an operating system, However you can change it to whichever operating system you want. all you will need to do is purchase whatever operating system you want, it will come with installation disks, pop one in restart your computer and it will walk you threw installing it. ( I have done this with XP & Vista, I am assuming Linux is the same.)

About Linux fedora and XP

Without knowing more about your system, the key rule is to install XP first, then Fedora.
If that doesn't work then it's time to put more partitions on your hard drive, and install the 2 operating systems on different partitions, again, remembering that Windows XP has to be the first installed.

Hi you will need to contact the manufacturer of the computer,
Dell, Acer, HP etc [ not the motherboard manufacturer] and select their support option. Some manufacturers have a lock code on the hard drive and if you can get the unlock key then you will be ok. The only other option is to replace the hard drive.
