CAN NOT DOWNLOAD VIDEO TO MY COMPUTER . I HAVE THE DISK THAT CAME WITH IT, BUT STILL NOTHING

it is important the the device is installed into the PC. So uninstall the drivers that is already installed and then shut down . Restart and load the CD to the PC and download and RUN the drivers. Now after the process is completed the camcorder can be connected to be detected and installed as a new device. If this wont happen please check in another PC to confirm if the PC or the cam to be the suspect.

Panasonic PV-GS35 will not connect to iMac, so can't upload video from mini DV cassettes into iMovie. when I connect with my USB cable, nothing shows up on the iMac saying that the camera or a "N0_NAME"...

So if it's miniDV and you have a firewire cable, it should work. Have you followed this sequence:
If your battery is sufficiently charged to run the cam for an hour's worth of tape, fine, otherwise connect cam to AC power. With cam OFF, connect Firewire cable to Mac and cam. Open iMovie, name your project and create so that the viewer screen comes up. Turn on the cam. At this point, your Mac should, within moments, say "camera connected". Cam needs to be set on "playback" mode for capture. Then click "import" button and your Mac will control the cam.

If you still get a "no camera connected" you have to consider the possibility that either the firewire cable is bad or the firewire port on cam or Mac is bad. If you have more than one firewire port on your Mac, try switching. An Apple store should be able to help you determine if you have a bad cable or cam port, if you take both in to try on their Mac. Hope this gets you on track.

Firewire worked once but not anymore...Canon XHA1

Solution? Maybe, but PC's vary greatly. Pass it on if it works for you. If Win-XP. Device manager. Un-install IEE1394. Close & Restart. Let the system restore the 1394 then try to reconnect the unit, cable to the PC first, then to the powered down camera. Power up the cam. What are you using to ingest? I recommed http://scenalyzer.com.
