Question about Onkyo DV-CP704 DVD Player

Open Question

I have an HDMI Out Error message displayed on DVD

I have an onkyo 6-disc DVD player with an "HDMI Out", HDMI Error" message flashing on display. went back over all the settings, resolution and replaced cable. Do not recall if I have a DV-CP704 or 706 model.

Nothing wrong with ports on AV reciever. Plugged in another DVD player to check. What could be the problem?

SOURCE: Shuts off after a loud sound

Hmmm...not sure but sounds like the vibration from the loud sound is causing the disk to jump. Not sure why that would power it off, but I think your thought to junk it sounds reasonable.

SOURCE: Remote control via RI terminal on Onkyo Receiver

Not sure I can solve, but maybe help. I am having a similiar problem. However, make sure you Analog Audio (RCA type) cable are connected even if using Digital connection between the two. They use those cable to send the Commands (Mentioned in the documentation).
If you did get yours to work, please give me a hint... I upgraded mine from a 603 to a 701 and haven't been able to get it to work since.

SOURCE: Onkyo DV-CP704 will not turn on.

Has Onkyo provided a recall for this. Owned lots of Onkyo products. Always great, but experiencing the same problem about a year after ownership. Very frustrating.

Emerson LCD TV Model LD190EM1 Sony Blu-Ray Disc Player, Model BDP-S3100, The TV screen gives an error reading "Format not supported" when I connected it using either HDMI connection.

This HDTV is rated display signals up to and including 720P resolution according to the spec linked below. If you are outputting a 1080i or 1080P signal from your BD Player, this could be the cause for the error message. Many HDTVs will accept signals higher than they can display - and simply down-rez to the highest resolution that they can display.

Connect the BD Player to a device that can display the signal. Enter the player's setting and change the output to 720P. Shut it off / disconnect cables as needed and reconnect it to the Emerson HDTV and see if it will display properly.

If it does, you're all done! if it doesn't - there's something else going on that isn't readily apparent to me. Good luck!

Does not recognize discs in drive: "NO Disc" message displayed

sounds like the optical pickup is going bad. replace the optical pickup part # 24801016A you can get it at www.vancebaldwin.com . there are four electronis sensors inside the pickup A,B.C,and D. this is the focus and read sensors. the laser must land on all four of the "pads" (sensors) these can appaer to work at first but soon begin to degrade their read ability. the E, F sensors can also cause this problem. no the sensors can not be replaced it's the whole assebly.

Error in display! cd player doesn't respond

Unless the graphics of the display is known it is difficult to speculate. If there is no display or if in disarray then the display unit or the driver is faulty. It can also be a powerr supply fault or a linking cord connection.
Finally if there is no response of the processor or any action of the function then the processor section is a suspect.

Error message (protect) cd plays then goes silent then plays again. have cleaned laser several times with cd cleaner disk.

Dirty lasers don't cause "protection" problems. Are you sure thay message is displayed on the CD player? That word is nowhere in its manual.

Have hdcp error flashing on front display

HDCP is copyright protection for HDMI ensuring that you can't copy the protected material.
Did you connect some new DVD player or new TV to the receiver? However the error should clear once you disconnect everything from HDMI. If not, try to restore the receiver to factory defaults.

HDMI connection with Panasonic DMP-BD35K Blu-Ray Disc Player

Try hooking the Panasonic up straight to the tv without going through the receiver. If it displays a picture its obviously not the blu-ray player. May also be a problem with the HDMI cable itself. Hope this helps.
