Change out the HDMI plug with the default one that came with your PS3, ( i think its called composite?) and when you turn on the ps3, hold the power button down for 5-10 seconds so it instead defaults to standard output mode, and not Hi Def.

You just ened to change some of the factory settings and you will get the picture back, to do this you can send it off for repair or use a good repair guide that will show you how.

When i turn on my ps3, the green light stays on and the tv screen doesn't even change. i changed the cords to make sure the audio/video wasn't just out. i tried to enter 'recovery mode' but it won't even...

If you have a "slim" ps3, it does not beep 3 times. Try this.
First, with the system off, plug in your old red, white, yellow cables into the tv. (make sure your tv is on the correct setting). Now, just turn on the ps3 the regular way. Did you hear the sounds it normally makes when booting up (the ps3 boot music?). If so, thats good. If you did not, check again that the tv is on the right channel, and if possible, try another set of red, white, yellow cables.

If you heard sound, but do not get a picture, turn the ps3 back off. After the red light comes on, hold your finger down on the power button for about 5 seconds. If you have a fat ps3, it will beep 3 times after a few seconds to get back to regular tv mode. If you have a slim ps3, it will beep once, then 1 more time a few seconds later. It should reset and turn back on. If your tv is on the right channel and the cables work, then you should now see a picture and you know your audio/video is working. You can now try your HDMI cable and it should prompt you to use the HDMI at this point.

Hope that helps.
Mike!

Damaged 24 iMac screen - want to use ext monitor via "mirroring" in screen preferences, but cannot access system preferernce due to damaged screen...any suggestions

There is an elegant way to solve this, but it requires another compatible model Mac.
Boot the damaged Mac into FireWire Transfer mode by holding down the "T" key immediately after hearing the startup chime. Attach a FireWire cable between the two Macs. Start up the other Mac by holding down the "option" key after hearing the startup chime. Choose the startup drive from the broken Mac. Now your good Mac is booted off the drive of the broken Mac, and any configuration changes you make will be made on the hard drive of the broken Mac.
Attach the external monitor temporarily to the good Mac. Open System Preferences and set the monitors up in mirrored mode. Shut down the good Mac. Then hold the power button in on the broken Mac until the power turns off, and remove the FireWire cable.
Now move the external monitor to the broken Mac and boot it. It should come up in mirrored mode.

if you hear no beeps when you boot, you probably just have a bad video card or monitor, or your monitor cable may have come loose....answer back...

No picture

It sounds like the backlight is out. If you can see a faint image that changes then this is the case. You either need to send in for repair or replace. It can if you are lucky be a connection. You can try removing the video cable and try another source or cable.

Screen goes blank when I start up game...

Hi,
why don't you go with the lower resolution itself as it was before.  if you are not able to set the screen resoultion to lower what you can do is reset ur system. press F8 key continuesly untill you get advanced boot system. There you select "safe mode" and run the system. Once it is booted try changing the resolution.             OR After getting the Advanced boot system you can also try by selecting "Last Known good Config......" so that it sets the old screen resolution...!

Ps3 does not appear menu screen & AVI cable trouble

To fix the HDMI AV cable issue just do a manual video reset. When you power on the PS3 hold down the power button until you hear two beeps then quickly remove. If you have other problems I would suggest doing a System Restore under Settings.

Playstation 2 Problem

Sounds to me like the graphics processor or power supply is almost dead. The system uses extra power when loading, taking away resources from the rest of the system. This will cause, among other things, reduced video output. Sadly, I don't believe there is a fix for this beyond replacing the unit. :( There is a *slight* chance, however, that a cable near the CD rom has come loose and the motions of the drive vibrate the cable into poor connectivity but somehow I don't think this is the case. Hope this helps some.
