Heyy dont worry this software has nothing to do with piracy.Actually this software finds your actual OEM key from the registry window.
But one more thing if ur laptop is asking for a key to proceed further to complete the installation then nothing can be done.If it is asking you hen you have completed your installation just skip that step and open up this software and it will give you your key.

  • Priya darshan Apr 19, 2008

Well I totally agree with you Ginko..
Yes please contact Microsoft or the dealer from whom you purchased the software.

  • Priya darshan Apr 19, 2008

Yes Ginko is right. When you install your operating system it shouldn't ask you for a key.I have almost installed vista on my laptop for 6 times and it never asked me.

Please follow Ginko's advice for the best and working solution..

If Vista is installed you should not need to input serial key.

Windows Vista serial is of format xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx. Normally you do not need to insert serial if laptop is brand new, if it is asking for serial then the system had been probably reinstalled with a install disk for a different Windows version. If your serial is not working, to get a different number you need to pay for a new vista serial, which costs is around $100.
If the laptop is new as retailer for clarification.
I suggest also contacting Microsoft and reporting the problem, if there had been an irregularity they will find out.

If you use a keyfinder, as suggested by Coolguy, and you find out the number found is different from the one at the bottom of your computer, that is one more reason for getting clarification from retailer, as the number that you should legally use is the one printed on the sticker at the bottom of your laptop.
If the laptop is new, in this case, there is clearly something wrong.
If the laptop is second hand or refurbished ask the retailer to install correct Windows version. If you use a downloaded number, or a number for which you do not have a valid licence sticker from Microsoft (as the one at the back of your laptop), then you are committing a criminal offence for which you can be prosecuted. At least it works this way in USA, Europe and many other countries.

I know a key finder is not a pirate key, a keyfinder will just display dispaly the serial key stored in Windows registry, without performing any illegal operation. The fact is that if the key is different from the one in sticker then the user does will not have a genuine Windows licence . Moreover if the key had not been entered yet, you will not be able to use the keyfinder.
In any case , if laptop is new as posted it should not ask for password, the only way to obtain a Microsoft genuine password different from the one on the sticker on your laptop is paying a new licence, therefore the laptop system must work with password on sticker, not a different one.
Contact back retailer and complain, eventually get the laptop replaced (if it is new), or ask the retailer to fix the problem with a genuine Windows installed if laptop is second hand or refurbished.
If you cannot have retailer clarification contact Microsoft anti piracy .
You should have received also a set of recovery disk with your computer , they are also supposed to reinstall system and to work along with the serial at the back of computer. You can also try using them, in any case I suggest to contact retailer first, because if aWindows version different from the one licenced on sticker is installed, then the computer had been used.

    Regards

You can download the CD from the internet on torrents website or borrow the CD and use your own key with it.

Most system have a recover partition, maybe you dont need a physical CD to re-install windows.

Microsoft office home and student 2007 25 digit key

Hello,

When you buy a new computer, quite frequently it will come with a trial version of MS Office installed. To get the 25-digit product key, you would need to buy the full version from microsoft.com or in any software store.

As a free alternative: OpenOffice is a free application which is 100% compatible with all MS Office applications. You can download this for free from www.openoffice.org.

Thanks for using the FixYa forums!
