Hi,

It would be really difficult for us to surely tell whether the copy of the Microsoft Windows 7 and Vista which you have purchased is genuine (or legal) or not.

To check and confirm that the copies which you have purchased is genuine, kindly refer to the "How to tell" article on Microsoft website by clicking this link: http://www.microsoft.com/howtotell/content.aspx?pg=coa&displaylang=en

Also, kindly refer to this article for Vista Home Premium.

Thanks for using FixYa

    I've done that.all seems okay.

I want to do a clean install of windows 7 x64 over Vista x32 both my disks as i said are oem versions

would there be any problems doing this. (is there any restrictions on reintalling on the same laptop?)

upgrade advisor gave me the okay.

    Thankyou for your help.

    Many thanks for the feedback.

Since you have already checked the upgrade advisor and the report says that your laptop supports the upgrade, there should be no problem whatsoever with installing Windows 7 on your laptop.

Just to be on a safer side, I would suggest that you make a backup (copy the files to a CD or DVD) of all the important files on your laptop (photos, videos, documents, etc.)

Wish you all the best and thanks once again.

Windows Installation Disc VS Windows Upgrade Disc -NOT THE SAME-

Having Trouble Booting To Your Windows Upgrade Disc?

...Upgrade discs aren't bootable discs. To repair a windows installation, you must use either a system repair disc or, better yet, a windows installation disc (genuine Retail/OEM discs are pretty much your only option to completely reinstall your windows operating system, unless you own a previous full installation disc of a previously released Windows version (such as XP or Vista), in which case you could install that windows operating system and then upgrade to a newer windows OS like windows 7. however if you ever need to reinstall windows 7, you would either need to reinstall the older windows OS, then upgrade to the newer one.

If that isn't clear, I'll sum it up....

Let's say you bought a computer, that computer had windows xp home edition. Maybe you wanted to upgrade from Windows XP/Windows Vista or Windows 7?
Well in order to switch from Windows XP/Vista to Windows 7, (or even from Windows 7 home premium- to windows7 Pro or Ultimate), then you must either:
A) Buy an upgrade disc and upgrade to the newer desired version.
B) Or, Buy a Retail Copy of the version you want to install. (keep in mind that a retail Windows 7 disc can be used to perform an upgrade rather than to competely wipe the hard disc and perform a clean install (delete partitions, reformat, and perform a new windows installation), if you so choose.

The bottom line is, you cannot Install a fresh clean copy of windows using an upgrade disc. OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and Retail Windows Operation System Installation Setup Discs are "Bootable Discs". Windows Upgrade Discs are NOT bootable. (unless one where to "modify that particular disc, which is not legal).

What does lack of basic services mean?

means lack of compatibility here is why..Criticism of upgrade licenses pertaining to Windows Vista Starter through Home Premium was expressed by Ars Technica's Ken Fisher, who noted that the new requirement of having a prior operating system already installed was going to cause irritation for users who reinstall Windows on a regular basis.[154] It has been revealed that an Upgrade copy of Windows Vista can be installed clean without first installing a previous version of Windows. On the first install, Windows will refuse to activate. The user must then reinstall that same copy of Vista. Vista will then activate on the reinstall, thus allowing a user to install an Upgrade of Windows Vista without owning a previous operating system.[155] As with Windows XP, separate rules still apply to OEM versions of Vista installed on new PCs: Microsoft asserts that these versions are not legally transferable (although whether this conflicts with the right of first sale has yet to be clearly decided legally).[156]

Pe design software reinstall

As long as you abide by the legal agreement you accepted when you first installed the software, you should be fine.
I think the agreement allows you to have it installed on one machine at a time, but it doesn't care on which machine.
You should review your PE-Design software legal agreement for the answer.

Product key of emachines D620

Hello here is the homepage:

http://support.gateway.com/us/en/emac/product/default.aspx?modelId=1263

The product key 25 digit number is under the pc on a sticker.
To make a reinstall you need the original windows disk.
You can not buy windows vista on a disk anymore.

I recommend to change your windows system to windows 7 because the support for windows vista is phased out.

A new windows system cost about 200 dollars for an oem version with the product key and can be bought online or in a computer shop.

Good luck

The error may be with the file or the software you are using to open it. Try download a fresh copy of adobe reader and try copying the file again and opening it again.

I put ubuntu the computer over heet and now only work the trial of ubuntu. how vista can run again?

If you erased the Windows partition when you installed Ubuntu you will need to re-insert your Windows Vista disc and reinstall Windows over Ubuntu using that, This will only work if you have enough keys remaining on your Windows Vista License, however. Hope this helps.

Hi,
I assume you are using the Vista disk that came in with the system. Even though you can see a product key on your friends computer, It would not work on your own computer because that product key is intended only for that DELL computer. The windows Vista that your friend has is an OEM copy of the operating system. The product key should match the Hardware of the OEM computer for it to work.
I suggest you get a genuine copy of the operating system for your self.
Hope this helps.

I have vista home premium and the harddirve crashed and I need to reinstall vista and i did not get a cd with the computer--I have the key where can I get a copy

The computer will sometimes have a separate partition on the hard drive to allow you to re-install your computer to factory setting. This option may be available on a menu during start up. If you had a full hard drive failure and had to change out to a new hard drive. Contact your computer manufacturer and see about getting recovery disks sent to you.

I hope that this information was helpful. If it was, please leave positive feedback for me.

Thank You,
Brian
