I am having the same problem - have reinstalled the driver to no avail - scanner used to work fine.  I'm on a mac.

  • Anonymous Apr 27, 2008

Same issue, use to work fine. Printing/copying is fine but scanning doesn't.

My scan used to work fine but has now suddenly stopped working - pushed start button both black and colour all to no avail!

Same problem on my mac. As far as I know it has never worked.

I have same problem from MP600 to Imac with Leopard - eventually works but takes up to an hour.

my canon pixma mp600 won't scan to my mac computer but works ok with a pc.

  • akiviker Jan 09, 2009

Same here - the device used to work just fine, but now doesn't start the scan job WHEN COMMANDED FROM THE SCANNER KEYBOARD. So I'm pretty much 100% sure it has absolutely zero to do with whatever is connected to the other end of the USB cable. Right?
    OK, it's a Vista :-s

    Mine won't scan either...

Vista 32 bit, MP600 printer, have MP nav installed but it says no scanning driver installed, have the scanning driver, don't know where to go

  • Anonymous Mar 10, 2009

prompts on printer to hit color or back and white button. do so and nothing happens.

  • Lizk6 Mar 11, 2009

I cannot use my scanner on my MP600 either - used to work perfectly. Have recently upgraded to Office Professional 2007 software...? Read some of the previous solutions on this site. Just reloaded MP Navigator and the MP drivers from the disc that came with printer. Didn't resolve the problem. Have now unplugged printer from USB port hub and plugged directly into PC. Will try Canon site for updated driver and MP Navigator next...

What you need to do is go to the Canon driver downloads page and download the MP Navigator. I had the same problem becuse the disc that came with the printer doesn't work with Vista. You have to know which programs to download! You only need the MP Driver and the MP Navigator and all should work!

I was unable to download the MP Driver so I just downloaded the MP Navigator and my scanner is once again scanning!

I solved this problem by downloading the MP navigator from the canon site: http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010396.asp. Scroll down and near the bottom you will find the MP navigator, note that you have to download the MP navigator that is compatible with your operating system.

Same problem. For no apparent reason, scanner failed to work. I reinstalled via Easy Install from the original Canon disk. Still didn't work. So I looked on printer itself and this is what fixed it:
Go Settings: Device Settings:Reset Setting (Restore Factory Settings). I clicked Yes and now it works.....

I've had the same problem, downloaded the MP Navigator and didn't work yet. I had the MP connected through a USB switch.
When I connected the MP600 straight to the PC, it worked flawlessly.

I suppose you need USB 2.0 to scan whereas 1.1 is sufficient for printing?

Good luck

I have the same problem. Have Windows Vista platform - maybe that's the problem?

I had the same problem.
I solved it by using the CD that came with the printer to install the Canon software in my computer.

Did it come with any software? My printer wouldn't print when I tried using the scan button. If it came with software you could try scanning using that. If you dont have it it's probably available for download on canon's website
