Hi! Does it have the same wiring harness from the old one? If none then theres a problem. Something might be grounding. May I know what was the old cd player? Thanks!

no, the wiring harnesses are differentand there is no wiring diagram for the 1998 festiva so we can match them up

Alright then. Try this, remove the positive connectors under the hood to reset the radio system, let it sit for atleast 10 mins. then see how it goes.

  • donnacrai416 Jul 11, 2010

that worked and thank you but i can not get any sound

Alright, atleast the problem is solved. What you need to do now is try to tap the wirings of the speakers to the cars harness to know the speaker lines.

If thats the case, since you know where the body ground and power is located you can start tapping the wires to the cars original speaker wirings and see if it will make a sound. Its just nice to know that the problem is solved and the radio is not resetting anymore.

  • donnacrai416 Jul 11, 2010

i have tried changing wires over but still no sound

Alright, have you tried checking the speakers if they are working good? Try to tap the speaker to a home stereo and see if it will create a sound, just to make sure its working good.

  • donnacrai416 Jul 11, 2010

    speakers are fine

If the speakers are fine and theres still no sound coming out then the problem could be on the radio itself. Is this radio came out of the box as in brand new?

  • donnacrai416 Jul 12, 2010

braand new out of the box

Alright, please turn up the volume for the factory stereos are set to zero. Insert a cd to play then try tapping the wires.

Yes you have a defective laser assembly. The 139 is a great price as buying the laser lens alone will cost you around 70 .Bose will also upgrade with any new software and will also provide you with a 1 yr warrenty.

I have a Kenwood KDC 135 car stereo wont un mute.

behind the face plate there is a little recessed reset button. push it using the tip of a pen or similar. that will fully reset the radio to like it was when you bought it.

Some times head units hicup. this is how you reset it. In most error cases this solves the problem.

There should be a reset button on the unit. That would probably be the first thing I would look at.

Kenwood KDC-519 Faceplate Problem

Detach the faceplate and look at the electrical contacts on the back of it for damage/dirt - you can spray it with electrical contact cleaner. Do the same to the contacts on the head unit - it sounds to me like one or more of them are a bit loose or otherwise not working properly.
