Arc mouse - click a window, everything fades to the back

Within the last week....every time i use my arc mouse on my laptop and click on a button....the window fades to the background along with the desktop, i then have to click on the window again for it to become large so i can see it, but once i click on the window again...it goes right back...it has a cascading effect with the other windows i have opened...so basically i click and it drops back...i click on the window again and it turns into a full screen...but then when i click a link..it drops back..can't get anything done....any suggestions? thanks

If it is only two weeks old, return it under warranty.
You have done what is reasonable to get it to work, and the only thing I could suggest is to make sure the new battery is a good one.
It is not reasonable to have to do more on a new item.

1. In order to fix this, you go to control panel > mouse
the last tab is called "Device Settings" click it and make sure you have "static tray icon in taskbar" selected.
(You can always remove this later.) Apply the changes and click the red coloured icon in your task bar. An option will be available called "Tap to click." Clicking it will enable you to tap with your mouse pad instead of the keys! Hope this helps you out, I know it helped my friend.

2.
In the Control Panel open Accessibility Options Icon and click Mouse Tab and than Setting.
To move the mouse pointer by using MouseKeys
If you have not already done so, turn on MouseKeys.
To turn on MouseKeys, open Accessibility Options, click the Mouse tab, and then select the Use MouseKeys check box. Use the buttons on the numeric keypad to move the mouse pointer. If MouseKeys doesn't function, press NUM LOCK, and then try MouseKeys again.
To move the pointer horizontally or vertically, press the arrow keys on your numeric keypad.
To move the pointer diagonally, press HOME, END, PAGE UP, or PAGE DOWN on your numeric keypad.
Notes To open Accessibility Options, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Accessibility Options.
To specify whether NUM LOCK must be on or off for MouseKeys to function, on the Mouse tab, click Settings, and then for Use MouseKeys when NumLock is, click On or Off.
To change the pointer speed and acceleration when using MouseKeys, on the Mouse tab, click Settings, and then move the sliders to adjust the pointer speed and acceleration.
To temporarily increase or decrease the pointer speed, on the Mouse tab, click Settings, and then select the Hold down Ctrl to speed up and Shift to slow down check box.

The light is supposed to go dim after few seconds. it's not lit all the time. So it works propperly.

2 of my arc mouses stopped working too after 6-12 months and i got new ones but now after 4 months with the new ones, they failed too.

The problem is within connection between USB-device and mouse. the USB device gets overheated and destroys it self in extensive use.

Get it back to store and swap it to new one.

I have a dell 8300 I copied data from. Problem can not find data on my Toshiba satellite 35xm-s149 laptop

Alright, this will be painless. Click on Start, then Search. Click on Documents. Click on within last week (or whatever time frame you think it was). Then in the box use a wildcard like *.doc for all word documents or *.* for everything. Click on start and let all the file be retrieved. Then on the top toolbar click on View and Details. Now pull your window on the right edge as far to the right as possible. You will see date modified. Click on date modified and it will toggle between lastest date to oldest date. Your file will be there.
