Hello,

you can follow the instructions below in order to learn how to remove the ink of your printer:

  1. Turn on your printer and raise the lid or press the cartridge changing button.
  2. Wait for the cartridge carrier to slide out.
  3. Put your finger behind the ridge on the top front of the old cartridge and pull it toward you to remove. If you have an Epson printer, lift the cartridge holder lid, and the cartridge will pop up for removal.
  4. Carefully remove the tape from the ink opening on the bottom of new cartridge.
  5. Insert the new cartridge into the cartridge carrier. Make sure the new cartridge is oriented the same way that the old cartridge had been.
  6. Feel and hear the cartridge click into position. On some models, arrows will indicate the cartridge is correctly positioned.
  7. If you have an Epson printer, close the cartridge holder lid and press the cleaning button to charge the cartridge.
  8. Close printer cover.
By now, you should have successfully removed the ink.

I hope this helped to solve your problem.

Good luck.

If by that you mean that the printer head carriage can't move then there can be 2 causes:
1 - the motor that moves the carriage has died - this is unfixable, you need a new printer.
2 - something is blocking the movement - close the printer, unplug it from the wall, lift the front panel and check that there's nothing that is blocking the movement (pieces of paper, the cartridge loading lever, the data cable to the printing head is jumbled); manually push the carriage first to the right bottom , then to the left of the printer and check again for stuff that would block the movement . If there's nothing to be seen and you can move it manually without a problem then the motor is dead.
If by that you mean that you can't take out the cartridges from the printing head then there is only one thing you can do - buy a new printer because the 2 causes that would make such thing happen (1 - the ink has leaked in the cartridge head and has glued them in place and 2 - the loading lever has broke) are terminal.

I tried to move the ink by pushing it in and out like you said it moved a little bit but not all the way to the left and I was not able to take out the Ink. does it help? waiting for your answer.

So the problem is with the carriage. In this case something is blocking the movement, as in an object that you can't see. You have 2 options: either force it to move (but you risk breaking the carriage) or you must dismantle the printer to see better and remove the most likely piece of paper that is blocking the movement. Luckily this is easy to do: all you need is a screwdriver to unscrew some screws and to pop some locking tabs on the periphery of the top case.

SOURCE: stopped printing both ink and paper red light

Depending on the way the lights are flashing you could be able to fix this reasonably easily.

If the lights are flashing at high speed together (ie: at the same time) then it's a fatal error and the chances are you have some kind of problem such as:

  • paper jamming up the works
  • loose wiring
  • the cleaning station sometimes pops up out of position and stops the printhead getting back into the parked position. If this is the cause you have to push the white wiper plastic down and to the right before allowing it back up and into the mated position with the parking pad. Takes a little work but it's easy enough.

Problem #2 is the waste pads and that's indicated by the flashing lights alternating rather than together.

If it's this then rather than reinvent the wheel (I've posted about this soooo many times now) here's a helpful little guide here:
http://www.octoink.co.uk/store/pages/Epson-C86.html (the C86 is the same as the C88 in terms of the waste pump/tubing design)

Resetting the waste ink counter requires the SSC utility from ssclg.com or a suitable adjustment utility which can be found for download if you search hard...

Hope that lot helps but if you get stuck, post again and I'll do what I can.

Cheers,

Martin

SOURCE: we changed the ink and the red light and green

Some times you need to find the epson tools that comes on the CD to reset the printer. If you have upgraded the computer you may need to update your drivers at the epson sight.
Once you have opened the epson tools try cleaning the print heads.
then it should reset the inking system to default and read the new cartridges. If this doesn't work try shutting down the printer and removing the ink cartridges, restart the printer and allow it to find no cartridges the go through the process of reloading the ink cartridges again and cycle the printer.

If this doesn't work you may need to try and find a cleaning cartridge for the print heads. Since the printers always check to see if ink is getting to the print heads if there is no ink flow it will always come up like there are no ink cartridges installed.

Hope this helps

Make sure paper is in properly they can be very picky about that.
Try turning it off wait three minutes and turn back on.
Then
Push Paper refill button Wait for cycle and see if paper light stays off if so...
Push the ink button

Have not used my Epson R1800 for almost 6 months. When I turn on the power the printer head, with the cartridges, stayed at the very right end, not moving. The paper and ink lights flash and the head just...

Your User's Guide is available here:

http://files.support.epson.com/pdf/r1800_/r1800_ug.pdf

After leaving the printer inactive for a extended period you should expect the ink cartridges to be dried up and the print head 'gummed' in place.

You will need to refer to page 82 of the pdf, Cleaning the Printer.

As part of cleaning remove the existing ink cartridges and while the cartridges are removed try and clean the print head of any ink residue. Note that if the red light is on or flashing above an ink cartridge the printer sees it as empty (dried up).

The print head will not move if ink cartridges need replacement; replace ink cartridges according to the red lights, likely all. Press the ink button to see if the printer will begin the charging cycle. If all is well the green power light will stay on and the red ink light will go out.

If you do not get this desired outcome try Cleaning the Print Head, page 73 of the User Guide. Hold down the ink button when the red light is off for 3 seconds. Run a nozzle check pattern; if nozzels are not printing a clean pattern, repeat this process up to 3 or 4 times.

My Epson is printing pages in code and will not stop and the green light is blinking and the red is staying on. We put in new ink cartridges today.

zark4, The green light flashing means you have print jobs waiting to be printed. Don't Turn Off The Printer When The Green Light Is Flashing ! If you have paper in the printer, the red light means you have an empty ink cartridge. Because both things are happening at the same time, here's what you need to do. First click start. Click printers and faxes. Double left click the Epson C-60 Icon. Left click Printer and click Cancel all documents and click yes, then exit. Remove and reinsert your new ink cartridges to make sure they are seated correctly. After you have done this and the printer finishes the automatic charging of the ink cartridges, the lights should be back to normal. Green light on.

Our printers epson c42ux red light is on stand still

A permanently on red light can mean several things. If the green light is also ON, it means that you heve no paper loaded, an empty or faulty ink cartridge, or a jammed paper feed. I presume you have loaded paper. You say you have changed the ink cartridges. Note that BOTH cartridges must have ink for the printer to work. The simplest way to check this, or to check for a faulty cartridge, is to try another new set of cartridges - compatible cartridges are very cheap on EBay - about £3 a set in the UK.

To check for jammed paper, remove the paper from the sheet feeder and look carefully inside it, and inside the printer (lift the lid) for scraps of jammed paper. Remove any you see. Press the ink/paper feed button and see if it goes through a paper feed cycle. Reinsert the paper and try it again. If it works, turn the printer off and on again, and it should now be OK.

If the green light is OFF, it means you have a Carriage problem, i.e. something is fouling the print head when it tries to go from side to side. Check this with manual movement. Turn the printer off. After a few seconds, turn it back on again. As soon as the print head moves, pull the power cord out of the back of the printer. You should now be able to move the print head across to the left side (gently!) by hand, then move it back to the right and see if it will go fully into its parking bay at the right hand end. You should be able to tell if someting is hindering its movement anywhere.

Please report back with a new comment if none of this solves the problem.

C43 stylus does'nt print while red and green lights stay on

If the light are flashing, it mean waste ink full. You must clean waste ink pad, and reset the counter. You can use SSC, find at indoreset.blogspot.com. But,.. you said the light are on. try to resinstall driver. after printer recognised by comp, check status monitor. Green light on is power on, and red on mean chip error/ink out error/cartridge error.

Epson C66 red light stays on for ink

The first time you install ink cartridges, the printer must charge its print head for about 90 seconds. Wait until charging finishes (the green power.jpg power light stops flashing) before you turn off the printer, or

it may charge improperly and use excess ink the next time you turn it on. If the printer stops moving or making noise, but the green power.jpg power light is still flashing after 5 minutes, turn off the printer. If the light is still flashing when you turn it back on, contact Epson.
Turn off the printer, then make sure the ink cartridges are inserted completely and the ink cartridge cover is closed completely. Also make sure no packing material remains in the printer. Wait a moment, then turn the printer back on to clear the error.

HP 932 RED LIGHT STAYS ON

The light you describe is the ink light.
When that light is blinking, try this.

Turn on the printer. Open the front cover and look at the carrier for the ink cartridges. There is a white arrow right above the latch for the color cartridge.
Once the carrier stops moving, the white arrow should be pointing to a symbol which represents the problem (the reason the light is blinking.) Examples are low ink black, low ink color, sick black ( replace ) , sick color ( replace ).

IF you have just replaced your black cartridge, you might need to replace your color cartridge too.
This printer will not work without both ink cartridges installed and full.
You cant print with a full black and an empty color cartridge unfortunately, even if you only want to print black.

Hope this helps!

Error code 510

If the error code is actually 5100, this is how you fix it:

Open the paper output tray.
Lift the scanning unit (printer cover) completely. (The print head will move to the replacement position.)
Open the inner cover.
CAUTION:
a. Do not try to manually move or stop the Print Head Holder.
b. Do not touch any metal parts.

Press down on the ink tank until a click is heard, thereby making sure the ink tank is seated properly.
Note:
Make sure that the ink tank is inserted in the slot that corresponds to the ink tank's color.

Ensure that all the ink tanks are installed properly and the ink tank lamps light red
Note:
Ink Tank Lamp
You can check the status of each ink tank according to the way its lamp flashes.

- On: The printer is ready to print.
- Slow flashing (at about three second interval): Ink is low. Prepare a new ink tank.
- Fast flashing (at about one second interval): Ink tank is empty, or the printer is not ready due to an error.
- Off: An error has occurred and the printer is not ready to print.
Close the inner cover and the scanning unit (printer cover).
Note:
When closing the scanning unit (printer cover), be careful not to jam your finger.
When starting printing next time, the print head cleaning launches automatically.

If you haven't installed ink recently -- then you are out of ink and that is why you ink out light is flickering.

Hope this helps.
Good Luck.
