Epson 800 Artisan printer was bought 2 years ago and I just opened the box set up the printer and it displays the following message. "An error has occured. Turn off all power. Check for and clear the...

I cant take credit for this fix, but it worked on my Artisan 800 with the same error. My error occurred right after a paper jam where i had a tough time removing the paper.

"Open the printer. See a 1/4" grey plastic band that is attached to the
print head. This is the CR (carriage return) guide that tells the print
head exactly where it is. During a paper jam it is sometimes pulled out
of the slit on the head carrier that it has to be in to tell the print
head where it is on the carriage. Pull the print head out about half
way, and with a flashlight look behind the head carrier. You will see a
small plastic u-shaped piece. Make sure the CR ribbon is INSIDE the
slit, or u-shaped device. When this happens you will usually hear the
print head hitting the side of the printer twice while it tries to
determine its position. Be very careful not to damage the ribbon. It
will slip back into the slot quite easily"

My print head didnt want to pull out, so i took a small inspection mirror and had a look behind the print head. Sure enough the ribbon was outside of the sensor. I easily pushed down on the ribbon gently with my finger and pulled it towards me just a little bit and it popped back up into the slot. Closed the printer up and no more message.

Hope this helps some other poor soul.

Hi hp designjet t1100ps plotter showing error code 86:01, paper jam. but physically there is no paper or obstacle in print area. carriage block also moving one time right to left then the error code is...

This error can be caused if there is anything blocking the movement of the carriage. I just had a client with this problem on Tuesday and it turned out that they had opened the print head cover and had not closed it properly. This caused the metal latch to block the movement of the carriage. I would check that first, as well as look for any small bits of paper that may be blocking the complete movement of the carriage.

I recently received lift off tapes for my nakjima typewriter. We have no user manual. I cannot get the ribbon and lift off tape to correct my errors. Please help or tell me if I am doing something wrong...

The ribbon may be noncorrectable, the knob must be orange or yellow. The lift off may be very old, or not properly installed, the dull side must face the paper.

Error condition head open

First test this: remove the ribbon close head if the error goes away it is not your sensor. Most of the time someone has loaded the ribbon on a little to hard and broke the plastic tab that insure it loads correctly. With the tab gone you may get lucky and load it right sometimes and other times not this is why some ribbons work and some do not.

Oven seems to have some sort of electrical problem

I just solved a similar probelm with my Kenmore oven, gave error code f7, among others. The control panel is manufactured by General Electric. Turned out that the control panel has a electrical ribbon that goes to the relay panel. The ribbon is actually two ribbons pressed together. They should easily pull apart. They are not insulated properly, and the ribbon leads short together or cross. Just put a piece of paper between them to act a an insulator. Good luck!

Zebra 140xi II error

If you open the case there is a sensor that detects whether the head is opened or not that is connected to the open and close lever. Sometimes the tab that blocks the sensor when it is closed get out of alignment or comes loose or the sensor is jarred loose. Make sure the tab breaks the beam.
