Question about Breadman Kitchen Appliances - Others

1 Answer

I recently acquired a Breadman TR888 and it powers one fine, shows settings just fine and times off ok. However, after 3-4 when the timer goes off and I think I have fresh baked bread on my hands I simply have dough and end up baking it in my oven. Am I doing something wrong? Is there something wrong with my unit? Please help otherwise I'm gonna throw it in a dumpster, which I don't want to use because I bought it off someone.

    Obviously I've "consulted" the manual otherwise I wouldn't be looking for an alternate solution online. Thanks for the assistance I returned the unit the original owners and I'm buying a new one with a warranty. Isn't worth the headache just to save $20.

This is odd, Does your unit heat properly i-e that your unit turns hot while in operation?. If there is no change in the dough then your unit must not be heating at all. If that is the case then the heating element in your unit must be defective.

    No the unit doesn't heat at all.... being that this is the 2nd bread machine I get that doesn't heat I was starting to think I was doing something wrong.

My machine lights up, the seconds are going, but it is not kneading or mixing,

if the timer is going, the outlet is not the problem.
it depends what setting that you have it on, on mine if I have it on wheat bread it requires a resting period to warm up the ingredients. leave it going for a while & see what happens.

Breadman TR888 doesn't properly bake desserts, and they fall apart. What should I do?

The freshness of your ingredients is a big factor in these machines. Slightly stale yeast will make your life miserable. Altering recipes is normal with these machines.

Deserts that fall apart can be either too much moisture or too little moisture. My suggestion is to measure accurately. If you live in a very humid area maybe reduce the water by one tablespoon.

In the back of your manual is a trouble shooting area. Take a look to see what it suggests as well.

Have fun!

Where can I find TR888 breadman paddle ? Is there a substitute ?

We found one on ebay. I think it might be hit or miss, but it's worth saving a search in case someone has one to sell.
Also, it couldn't hurt to ask some of these users who are buying new machines if their paddles are still functioning. You might get a better deal from a fellow breadmaker user! (I think I paid an arm and a leg for ours).
Good luck! My husband and I were quite dismayed when our paddle stopped spinning and didn't want to have to buy a new machine.

Available parts are normally listed here:

http://www.directpartsandproducts.com/bread-makers-tr888-c-61_129_837_838_861.html

No parts are listed so would suggest you contact this supplier at 800-738-0245 to see if they are able to source the part you need.

Alternative is to seek parts on the secondary or used market.

Need the operting Manual for PerfectBaker PB571

Here's some info;
http://www.creativehomemaking.com/download/TR888_1183_Recipe_Book.pdf

Here is some operating instructions one baker used for this machine;

But here's how to actually use it:

Put wet ingredients in loaf pan. Heap dry ingredients on top. Make a well in dry ingredients and add yeast, ensuring it doesn't touch liquid if you want to use the timer. Put pan in breadmaker, clicking into place.

Plug in breadmaker but DO NOT touch the on/off button till the very last.

Using the "menu" button, choose what type of bread you're making (the top two rows -- normal, fruity etc).
Using the "crust control" select how dark you want your crust.
Using the "timer" select how long till you get the finished product. The minimum is 3 hours for quick bread/medium crust, which I often use, the maximum 14 hrs 30mins. It goes up in 30 minute increments with each push of the up arrow. Remember, what the timer shows is when the finished bread will be ready.

Once you're satisfied with your settings, press on/off

If you choose "fruity bread" the timer will beep into the kneading process to tell you it's time to add the fruit. It goes in at a later stage.

When the bread is finished, it will keep on a warm cycle for a while until you switch it off.

I use high grade flour and add 1 tsp gluten flour to each cup of flour. The bread rises more.
