The WEP code is the code that is used for security on a wireless network. It's like a password. You either need to get the WEP code from the owners of the network, or just find another wifi network altogether.

  1. Tap on your network name to select it.

  1. Select "OK," "Save Settings," and then "Yes." The Nintendo DS will run a connection test with your wireless router.
  • The connection test was successful - Your Nintendo DS is now connected online and you can enjoy the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection features of the game!
  • The connection test was not successful - If the test was not successful, you will receive an error code.
    • Error Code 51300: This means the security code or network name entered into the Nintendo DS is not the same one the router is set to. To reach your connection settings, click "back" on the error code screen. Make sure to pay extra attention to the security key you find in your router's settings and enter it exactly as it appears (the key is case sensitive).

The Nintendo DS and Nintendo DS Lite are not compatible with WPA security. If you would still like to connect your Nintendo DS online, you will need to either change your router's security to WEP, or disable security entirely. Please note that any changes you make will affect other devices that connect wirelessly to your router.

Error Code :51100 Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Setup

Error Code: 51100

The WEP key for the Access Point you are attempting to connect to has changed since you last connected.
What to do:

    • Errors ending in 0 = connection file 1
    • Errors ending in 1 = connection file 2
    • Errors ending in 2 = connection file 3
    • Errors ending in 3 = Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector
  • Verify the Access Point's WEP Key is entered correctly into the Nintendo DS. If your router has slots for more than one WEP key, the first (#1) must be the one selected on your router.

If you have multiple connection files saved to your Nintendo DS, the error message you received can help determine which connection file may be experiencing a problem:

Web setup

With a Wi-Fi compatible game inserted into your Nintendo DS, access the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings screen. Your game manual provides information on how to do this for the game you are playing.
  1. Tap Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings
  2. Tap one of the Connection slots
  3. Tap "Search For An Access Point"

The Nintendo DS will then display the name of your wireless access point.
If your Access Point has a blue, unlocked icon, tap the Access Point name, and then 'OK.' The Nintendo DS will then establish a connection with your router. Back out to the main screen of your game and your ready to play online.

If your Access Point has a red, locked icon, the Nintendo DS has detected WEP key security on your router. Tap the Access Point name on the Nintendo DS and then enter the WEP key for your router on the following screen and tap 'OK' to save the settings.

Tap 'OK' again and the Nintendo DS will then establish a connection with your router. Back out to the main screen of your game and your ready to play online.

If your Access Point has a gray, locked icon, the Nintendo DS has determined your router's security settings are not supported by the Nintendo DS. In order to connect to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, you will need to either switch to WEP security, or remove the security setting of your router when connecting with the Nintendo DS.

I am trying to get wifi on my nintendo ds lite ,

The DS's Wi-Fi capabilities are not up to par and can unfortunately be a little fickle sometimes, and many people would rather buy another wi-fi device before trying to set it up, but if you do want to attempt to obtain your wep key so you can have wi-fi I am happy to assist you.
What you must do is get on to a computer that is hooked up to your wireless modem. From there you should be able to bring up on your system settings the information about the modem. Depending on what type of modem it is, you may have to flip through the more advanced information to find the wep address.
Once you do, you will have to put that code into the DS and pray that it works, because much of the time your DS will still not be able to connect.

I am trying to set up my Nintendo DS Wi-Fi. The instructions say that I need a "WEP key" I do not know what this means or where to find it...

A wep key means that the router you are trying to connect to has a password on it. Where to find it depends on whose WEP key it is. if its to your router you could probably call the company and ask for it.

Usually when you connect to Wifi, you automatically get a connection code. You do not usually need a code to connect... Something may be wrong with your DS's connection.
