I downloaded the file on my toshiba laptop and transferred it to the acer laptop via flashdrive. There's an error saying, "This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it,or contact the application vendor to verify that it is a valid Windows Installer package". What do I do?

Try going into the control panel and then into the device manager. Find the ethernet device and remove it. Then re-boot the computer and the OS should re-detect the card and re-install the drivers. Hopefully this will get the card working again. Let me know if this helps.

CAN NOT GET MY WIRELESS INTERNET TO CONECT,LIGHT IS ON BUT WHEN IT IS ON IT IS TO TURN BLUE BUT IT DOSE NOT. CAN SOME ONE HELP?

First, make sire the switch is in the right position...most of the the time when the switch is on the fron tof the laptop, "on" is to the right. If the switch is in the "on" position, then it is possible that the driver has gotten corrupt or is somehow missing. Try first to update the driver. Go to the control panel > Device Manager (in XP it is in System and then under hardware) scroll down the device manager and click on the + sign by the network adapters. Right click on the wireless adapter and choose update driver. Let windows go through the update and reboot, if this doesn't work, go back to the network adapters and this time right click on wireless adapter and choose uninstall. Reboot and when windows starts, it will recognise the hardware and install the appopriate driver for it. It would be better if you were connected to the internet by an ethernet cable for this, that way if the wireless is down, windows can search online through the ethernet cable and get a fresh driver....but if not it isn't totally necessary.

Network Adapter/Ethernet Controller

Nothing wrong with having two network adapters installed on your computer. If you have this DWA-552 wireless adapter installed as well as an onboard NIC, the correct thing to do is have both drivers installed so you see them both in your Control Panel->Network Connections window.

If you really want the onboard nic to go away, go into device manager and disable it - not uninstall it.

Missing ethernet controller+Pci device+ sm bus controller

PCI Modem is your dial up modem, Ethernet Controller is your Network Card, and SM Bus Controller is your Motherboard Chipset drivers. There missing because your Operating System has Either Corrupt Drivers or they were never installed in the first place. Sounds like a fresh installation was done and nobody bothered to look in the device manager to see if any hardware drivers were missing.

Driver missing

all you need to do is to update the drivers for the SM Bus Controller.
