Question about Elo 15" Touch Monitor

I got a ELO 1524L LCD touch monitor. The back

I got a ELO 1524L LCD touch monitor. The back light doesn't come one anymore. I found the backlight is still good. I tested it with another lcd monitor and the backlight comes one. I'm not sure if it's the power source going to the inverter or if it's the inverter itselft that's bad. I do get voltage readings going to the inverter. There are six wires. Two wires get 15v and the rest don't have anything or like .8v. Can't find the inverter for this model. Is there a way to use another inverter since these backlights are able to power up with different inverters?

You should have 2 wires for 12~15 power going in, which you already indentified, 2 more wires should be for ground return, you can check for them by using Ohm meter between the chassis and probe the wire for less then one Ohm resistance. The other two wires, 1 wire will be for Dimming control (usually 0 = dimmed, 5vdc = full brightness), 1 wire will be for BACKLIGHT ON/OFF (0v= OFF, 4~5VDC = ON) control.
Dose the fuse on the inverter board check out OK? You can use other inveter board as long as the lamp connectors are the same and you just have to match the input signal pin. I have done many.
See example of the fuse on the inverter board.

Does all coloured wires represent the same thing for these inverters? I see those are the same colours like mine. I did check the fuse and it doesn't check out good. If I jump the connections manually, the back light will come on. Is it ok to just change the fuse and it'll be ok? I understand that if a fuse blows, something caused it to blow so that could mean that there still is a problem. I ordered some fuses from They are smd fuses. I'll solder them in test the monitor by leaving it on for a like a day or something and see if the fuse blows again.

No the color of the wires are not standard, some of these wrining are real bad, usually Black wil be for ground (DC), and RED is for B , but I found that they do not stick to typical color code for wiring.
Yes, the fuse will blow due to over current, or just by the surges, or it just failed due to stress during turn on curent surge. I usually replace it with axial lead PICO fuse (by LITTLEFUSE) from MOUSER., then I will burn in the monior for about a week, I will turn it on and off a couple times a day to see if the turn on surge will blow the fuse.

I have the same issue with a 1515L Monitor. It comes on for a split second and goes off? or picture goes away. Picture looks fine at all resolutions and touch screen is working also.

jcleary916, You or qualified electronics technician will need to find out why "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamps" fail to sustain output of white light that enables you to see what is on the LCD panel. CCFL inverter supply probably needs work on it. Do some reading in my and other fixya lcd monitor tech'e profiles. You will be amazed that so many other owners of ALL brands of CCFL back-lit monitors have YOUR exact same symptom as your's does. And then think about all the other owners who don't find their way to fixya for an answer!!! Keep in touch by doing another comment to this one after you do some reading. Then let me know what you are willing to do about your BLACK or BLANK n BLACK CCFL back-lit LCD monitor and how old it is!!! 12fixlouie

Elo ET1725L with no video. Flash on screen on

When LCD's "turn on" momentarily before going blank again it is an indication that the backlights have worn out. Cold Cathode Floursecent Lamps (CCFL's) have a limited amount of hours which they can be in operation for before the mercury vapor in them breaks down (or leaks out). When that happens the backlights no longer look like a load the inverter (device inside the monitor which turns low voltage into high voltage) is programmed to look for, and long story short, the inverter does not keep the lamps illuminated because of this being a safety setting, if the load no longer looks like what the inverter is looking for, it could be sustaining an open arc which then leads to extremely high temperatures, and a possible fire. The flash you see is the "firing voltage" (I think that is what it is referred to in the industry) which is a very high voltage pulse used to create the arc between cathodes in the CCFL, creating the arc takes a much higher voltage than sustaining the arc, so even if the inverter successfully creates the arc and lights the cathodes, it quickly doesn't look like a proper load and then inverter quickly turns off to prevent damage.

In essence CCFL's are usually the weakest link in LCD monitors as far as what is most prone to failure, technology has been improving, but if you keep your monitor on all day long at full brightness, never shutting it down, don't expect more than 3 years out of it :( Some brilliant LCD manufacturers recognize this problem and even make the backlights replaceable!! What a novel concept!!! But due to price gouging, the replacement backlights are usually sold for a premium from resellers, better option than the majority of LCD displays which have the backlights so integrated that you end up destroying the LCD and introducing contaminates in the process of "reviving" the display...

Your best bet if the backlights are in fact shot, is, if you are handy with a soldering iron, get the LCD apart, get out the backlights (there are probably four in there, possibly 6) measure the diameter and length, and look on eBay to see if someone is selling the particular CCFL you need-- that may be the cheapest route if you are out of warranty...

Elo 17" LCD Touch screen ET1725L Powers off after 1 second

Your problem lies ion either your back light inverter or in the backlight tubes ( bulbs) which are embedded in the LCD display. The display has 4 ccf tubes inside of it that provide the backlighting. if any of these tubes are bad the backlight inverter will shut off after about 1 second. Because there are 4 of these tubes inside the screen you may not notice ( brightness wise) if 1 of them is out.

You can buy another backlight inverter( about $70.00 US) however, from my experience that would be a waste of money. Unfortunately, I think your problem probably lies in your LCD and the backlight tubes are not replaceable.

Hope this helps all who have this problem.
Good luck
