Question about RIM BlackBerry Bold 9700 Smartphone

Blackberry bluetooth bug?

I have blackberry 9700...

my bluetooth cannot be activated. it started happening today, but not sure exactly when.

this morning i was installing and upgrading few apps in my phone and that's obviously what I think it caused the problem.

i did the following changes this morning... i installed Craigslist App (by Movela), I upgraded the Dictionary.com app from v1.0.1 to v1.1, I unistalled BeejiveIM, and finally I installed QuickLaunch.

I dont know at what point did the bluetooth was broken. It was not until later on the day when I wanted to use it that I found out.

The problem is when I go the the "manage connections" screen and I click on the checkbox for the bluetooth it doesn't enable the bluetooth. instead, it just waits for couple seconds in a grayed-out font, and then it just doesn't do anything.

what could be the issue?

Regards,
AGL

Hello,

There are couple of reason that can cause this not to be responding, i advice you first carry out reset option on the blackberry to see, if it will fix the abnormality, power off the phone and power on back after few minutes, while the phone is booting/loading, pull out the battery and wait a while before putting the battery back and power on, see if it fix the problem, if not, proceed with the below procedure.

  1. On the BlackBerry Home screen, click Options and then select Bluetooth.
  2. Display the menu and select Options.
  3. In the Discoverable field, press the spacebar until the field displays Yes.
  4. Save the changes.and try connect again.
Take care.

Thanks for your response. However, I cannot fix the problem that way. I did just try the rebooting steps that you described and it didn't help.
As for the procedure to change the bluetooth options, I know what you mean but there is no "bluetooth" in the list of options....

when i go to the blutooth configuration button from the direct access in one of the folders to get to where you configure the bluetooth, the screen just kindda freezes for a little bit, and I have to press the red button (hangup call) to get out of there and at least go back to the home screen.

    any other suggestion,
can we just talk? is easier than typing..

    regards,
    AGL

    Hello,

I advice you update the bluetooth of your phone as well, cause i can see that it is either it is corrupt or the update done are not compatible, update the bluetooth on your phone and see if it fix the problem. note, i strongly advice you scan the phone from virus as well, because it is possible that during the update the phone as contacted virus, ensure the phone is virus free before proceeding by scanning it.

    Take care.
