Question about Garden

1 Answer

THis is a Husqvarna 54 inch deck 2009 model. when I depress the forward drive pedal I move very slowly weather the deck is engaged or not. It is also very slow and sometimes stops in reverse. I usually have to use my foot and pull back on the forward pedal for it to even go slowly in reverse. I need help. I haven't had this mower very long and it has been a disappointment since I have bought it. Jul 11, 2010 - The belts are new and I dont hear any slipping of the belts. It moves very slowly and it has never moved correctly. This a pedal not a shift into gear type of mower. you press the pedal to go forward. Is there an adjustment. I cant see one. I have purged the transmission twice according to manual.

You didn't specify a brand or type but it sounds like a hydrostatic drive model and if so, it is 1 of 4 likely things

Drive belt from engine to transaxle slipping badly (replace the belt)
FWD-REV pedal linkage faulty
Transaxle is broken or has fluid issues (not user fixable)
by-pass rod (neutral lever/rod) is pulled out a bit. (push it in fully!)

48 inch deck problems

a lot of problems here.try this.[grass buildup]. usually cause by damp grass or blades not going fast enough to throw into box.engine cutout is then caused by grass jamming blade[s]. backfire is usually too much choke or wrong petrol/air bent grass.try cutting driving in reverse[if strip is wide cos of back tyre then blade is uneven.]

Drop mower deck and have a look.
Both rods run to the rear on the right side.
Possibly something interfering.

The transmission will not engage,

it is possible that there are no parts missing - reach in and push the "rod end over the rear axle doesn't move the lever" lever forward - the brake is sticking in the "on"position - wiggle the lever back and forth, if it moves more than 1/4 inch, use a half inch wrench to tighten the nut holding the lever until the lever has only about 1/4 inch movement
