I have same problem. I see red reset button. When I push on it, nothing happens. How to make it reset?

There's a red reset button that you need to press, it is hidden deep inside a well in the plastic piece. The well looks just like a screw hole until you know what to look for. Once you press it and your power supply is attched right you are golden.

Remove the oil and the gunk from the bottom. Put everything back together,(make sure you align the slots there is a trigger). Here's the kicker!!!!!!!! Heat some oil up in a seperate pan, then pure the hot oil over the thermostat,(the prope in the bottom). This will clean all the old oil off. That's what is causing the malfunction. The old oil has sufficated the probe.Worked for me.Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a star deep fryer that over heats the oil and then trips the breaker on the back of the fryer.

Has to be a stuck thermostat or a bent or broken bulb, tube in the fryer oil. When replacing the control be careful not to bend the tube to much to pinch it closed. This is a very small pipe. Check by turning the thermostat from low to high and see if it will turn off the fryer. It could be out of calibration but unlikly when the high limit kicks off.

Fryers use 2 types of stainless steel. Get a magnet and see if it sticks to the inside of the tank. If so...that is a lower grade of stainless. Use some steel wool to clean the rust spots and cover with vegetable oil. The tanks should be ok if you just bought them.

Deep fryer won't turn on

I had the same thing on a Presto deep fryer. I removed that back cover and traced the wires from the AC inlet. One lead goes to a switch that activates when you slide the heater into the case so the heating element will not turn on if it is not in the case. I removed the switch, pushed it in and out a few times, verified that it works with a multimeter, reassembled everything, and "presto", it works. Maybe I was lucky, but it worked for me.
