Stupid question for you- have you hooked it up to see if Win 98 would recognize it? Driver for 98 is a little harder to find than I thought. Another thing to try, with it hooked, go to add a printer and tell it your printer. Have it look on the internet because it's very possible Microsoft has a compatible driver for your model. Let me know what you find. Mean while I'm still looking. ( An XP upgrade is only $100. Just a thought. I'll keep looking. Let me know what happens with these other ideas.) Thanks.

Restart your computer.
(Start > Turn Off Computer > Restart )

Then turn the computer OFF.
WAIT 1 minute, turn the computer back on.

Still no sound? The OnBoard audio on your motherboard is bad.
(Integrated audio)
The audio chipset is no good.

Suggestion then is to install a PCI soundcard.

Sound drives hp compaq d530 cmt

HP Support > HP Compaq d530 Convertible MiniTower > Drivers > Choose your operating system,

Since you didn't state what operating system you are using, I'm going to choose Windows XP for an example. The O/S the computer came with, (Home or Pro, it's the same for the Audio { Sound} drivers)

Are you trying to set up a raid configuration? If not I would reformat using the 98 disk and reinstall. (You may be able to skip installing 98, try installing xp first and it should ask for the disk containing the software (win98) that qualifies for the upgrade.

My Windows 98Se OS does not recognize the USBFLB40-C Lot No JH570s

If the Windows 98SE driver installation steps do not proceed smoothly, try the following steps to remove, then re-install the drivers:
  1. With the FireLite connected to the USB port, open My Computer, then Control Panel, then System. Click on the Device Manager tab and make sure the View devices by type option is selected.
  2. Expand the listing (click on the “+”) for Universal Serial Bus Controllers near the bottom of the list.
  3. If you see an entry with an alert icon (yellow exclamation symbol or question mark), right click on the entry and choose Remove.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3, expanding (if present) the listing for Other Devices.
  5. Exit all the windows opened in step 1.
  6. Disconnect the FireLite from the PC’s USB port.
  7. Reboot your computer.
  8. Again try the driver installation steps that came with the driver you downloaded.

Rebuilding emachine - windows 98SE

A C100 error is a registry error. I suggest that U format the drive and reinstall the 98SE. There are programs (bought) available that may fix this problem, but another perferred choice would be to purchase a XP operating system. Boot up on the XP cd and replace the 98SE with the XP. It's better, faster, prettier and more reliable.
