Question about Dryers

2 Answers

I bought a new lint screen for my dryer because the old wouldn't go in all the way but this one isn't either. I was wondering if this was a common problem on this model and if there's a trick to getting it in properly. Thanks.

Use a flashlight and look into the space the screen goes. You will see lint built up and preventing the screen from going all the waydown. Remove the lint.

It could be that you dryer is overheating and has warped the filter. Seen it on Maytag brand dryers where the dryer wheel was stripped out and it took fifty forever's to dry a load.

How do u check to see if the dryer vent is plugged

  • Check your lint screen. If there isn't much lint on it and you've been doing laundry, it's possible the lint may have been caught in the vent instead of the lint screen, which means you have a clog. Lint in the area around where your dryer is can also be a sign of a problem. For More information please visit Dryer Parts.

I have a build-up of lint and dust below my lint screen. I know how to clean my lint screen. Please let me know how to clean below lint screen in dryer cabinet where the air heads out of dryer.

I used a piece of bent metal clothes hanger to dig out some of the big pieces and then to dislodge the particles stuck to the bottom. First I tried my dirt devil and it wouldn't fit, then I brought in the shop vac. I have a roomba and no regular vacuum. The shop vac nozzle attachment was thin enough with some force to reach the majority and had the power to bring up the lint, dimes, and flossing tools. I use the shop vac with all extensions to clean my lint vent after removing the vent cover. If you plug the overflow in tub, the shop vac can remove hair clogs from the drain that accumulated from two long haired daughters for ten years. It can also unclog toilets (yuck), but has to be disinfected afterwards.

Dryer shuts down sometimes , sometimes gets too hot then shuts down until it cools

First thing you will want to check is the lint screen, if the lint screen is clean, check the venting system. Unhook the 4" hose behind the dryer and look into it to make sure it isn't plugged up with lint. Also, check the rest of the vent all the way to the outside of the house . If the vent is stopped up it will overheat the dryer and cause other problems down the line.

Samsung dryer DV448AEP/XAA - lint buildup

Yes this is rellatively normal as clothes are just not made the same way any more. You could turn down the drying temperature slightly and put in an anti static drying sheet but it won't make that much difference.

Lint screen is warped and does not collect very much lint

If the dryer is less than a year old the lint screen should be covered by warranty I would replace the lint screen to see if that helps.

A lot of lint is getting by the in unit filter screen and is cloging the outside vent bird screen The dryer is about one year old and is a model DHDVH52

Check the seal for the dryer vent coming from the drum itself. It may just be a simple lint filter replacement that is realitively cheap and can be bought from www.marcone.com. If it is a top removable lint filter, the seals get worn out quite easily. Also, be sure to clean the lint filter after EACH load to help prevent it.
