Whirlpool dryer bad heating element AGAIN

Hi Warren Fink
Try this solution to your problem

A vent clogged with lint can cause the dryer to overheat.
Right after replacing a dryer element, always run the dryer on air fluff/no heat, and go outside to verify there's plenty of air coming out your vent system.
If the vent's clogged, that new element can burn out very quickly.

I HAVE kENMORE GAS DRYER SERIES 80. last week dryer would heat for a minute then go out. Dryer would spin with no heat. Wnt to appliance store told me to change heater fillaments that one was bad after...

Your ignition unit may be worn out and will need to be replaced. Generally, a heating element comes on and once it reaches a certain temperature, it ignites the gas pilot. Then the heating element cools off because the gas is now burning and producing heat. When this heating element stops working correctly, it will not reach the right temperature to ignite the gas. You'll need to have a professional perform the repair. If the dryer is still under warranty, this might be covered.
Check your owner's manual.

I hope this solves your problem. If it does, please come back to Fixya and rate my advice!

Check for lint buildup on the "Hi Limit Themostat" located above the heating element. There is a thermostat kit that you can get and replace all three at once. This will make sure your dryer runs safe and up to its required operational limits. The lint buildup may cause the thermostats to get out of the tolerance. Here is a link to the thermostat kit.

Not heating

Hi, Check the thermostats and the fuse. Make sure the 4" vent to the outsideis cleaned. If it is plugged, it will cause elements and thermostats to go bad.
The thermostats and the fuse must have continuity. If they are open, replace them. All these parts are located in back on blower housing and element housing.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks
Vic

Mine had the same problem. A repair guy (overcharge me) replaced a thermal fuse by opening up the back of the dryer, took 10 minutes. I can do it next time and save $125. Well lesson learned.

This sounds as if the internal fuse has blown. I am assuming you have checked the breakers as well. The starter switch might be bad.
