I'm having problems with the audio for my hp dv6929wm laptop. Windows does not detect and audio device and everytime i go to update the drivers the installation stops because it can't detect and audio...

If you've ensured the correct services are running and the correct drivers are installed/attempted to be installed, I'd say there's a good chance you're experiencing a hardware problem. The easiest way to test that is w/ a Linux Live CD or to perform a factory OS reinstallation. If you don't want to restore the the computer, try booting a computer up w/ a Ubuntu install cd, and try running the OS live (w/out reformatting/installing the OS), and test the sound. I recommend Ubuntu because the driver support is pretty good. With that said, if it doesn't have the correct sound driver for your hardware, this solution will not help us out, so at that point, I'd recommend reinstalling Windows and see if your sound works. If it doesn't work after the OS reinstallation it's a hardware problem.

Try to check the windows audio services in windows service, and make automatic, then try to check if not working then go to device manager and uninstall audio drivers and restart the computer and give some to to automatically install the driver then audi will work in case not working then refresh the driver from device manager and try to download and reinstall the windows audio driver then windows audio will work fine.

How do i delete windows 98 from my laptop it originally had vista and my kid put 98 on it and now it wont boot

you need to run your vista cd back on the laptop & reinstall vista, Vista will make the changes for you. you cant removed 98 and have vista back and running as it was before as windows 98 would have changed the hard drive format from ntsf to fat32
