Question about Kenmore Elite 45986 Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Washer will not run, Kenmore HE2 Plus, Model# 47532601

Got an issue with my washer.

Her stats: Washer, Kenmore HE2 Plus, Model #: 110. 47532601, Series: HLT4114341

First issue I had was when running a normal cycle it will go through the entire cycle and at the end display 1min remaining and never change from that state (door remains locked)

If I unplug and re-plug it in I have the following two things happen:

A) Same issue as before

B) Press power choose cycle, door locks then nothing just displays time remaining. If I press stop it beeps then all buttons on control panel are frozen (no response)

I ran the diagnostic test by following the steps in from the manual I found in the bottom front panel

And I was able to first see the following Error history F-24 (water temp sensor) and F-26 (door switch error)

Other notes:

I have pulled the release lever for the door and when the cycle starts I get the heavy solenoid click/slam.

When I first plug it in I get a slight little click in the control panel.

Re-ran diagnostic and I got a F-28

I pulled the top off and wiggled/disconnect/reconnect every connector I could reach (no change)

Put an ohm meter on the temp sensor and got a reading of 12.2 k-ohms which falls into the table in the maintenance manual.

The last thing I did was run the "Manual Diagnostic Test" as described below

The door locks then nothing every time I hit the button to move to the next step nothing happens, does this mean it is dieing in the first step, door lock?

Wondering if anyone has any thoughts?

If the water temperature sensor (NTC) value is out of range (23°F to 217°F [-5°C to 103°C]) during the water-heating step of the WASH cycle.

It appears your timer/main controller/CCU has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to or and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question

Who makes Sears washers and dryers? Does Whirlpool make them

The model number on your washer or dryer (located on a nameplate around the door opening) should have a prefix code of "110". This number identifies the manufacturer as Whirlpool. If you need further assistance, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Hello Rickgall1998,
If t is a rear bearing (no symptoms listed) I doubt at 3 years old the bearing can be bad! I can't help you but if it is the door seal or some other common part perhaps you can find it here;

Is water turned on to machine don't laugh it has happened.
Check water valve if you know electricity you can hook 110 volts directly to the water valve and see if water will come out or check with an ohm meter.
Also be sure you have 110 volts to machine check first.
