SOURCE: fr50 beep
The Motorola TalkAbout radios, especially the FR50 and FR60, are notorious for making a variety of beeps when you push buttons and activate various functions of the radio.
The beeps can be helpful when you are trying to operate the radio in low-light situations. But they can also be mildly irritating.
Sadly most models of TalkAbout do not provide any way to disable the beeps. I'd suggest not using this particular radio for covert surveillance missions.
Go Ahead. Use Us.

You have done a good job under the circumstances. It could be a bad start/run capacitor as well. It carries a lot of amperage so I suggest hiring a technician to check the capacitor and the motor.

SOURCE: thermostat ?
I'm thinking the bi-metal is working, that's why you can hear a click, but the contacts are welded together. The bi-metal doesn't have enough strength to break the weld. Time for a new thermostat.
